Who's looking forward to the 992?
Discussion
With the 992 due to be launched this autumn I'm wondering if people are getting excited?
For me, I'm really not sure about the looks of the rear end from the spy shots. Why do they need to try and homologate it with the panamera design? It's the 911, it can be a stand alone design.
What do people want to see in terms of engine, performance, character? Should the carrera be a back to basics sort of car, with the 'S' reserved for showcasing all the new technology that keeps it ahead of its rivals in the group tests etc?

Always look forward to a new 911. This time it will be interesting to see what they do with electric/hybrid. Will it be on the gen 1or gen 2? Also, how long will they keep doing NA GT cars and how long will they let us choose a manual.
Looks are always controversial but I like what I've seen so far. I think it will look sharp and modern.

Think it was Total 911 that had an interview with the CEO of Porsche a few months ago.He said a Hybrid will be 992,2 and will be the “most powerful 911 ever” so assume it will be a Tourbo S E Hybrid like the top end PanameraLooks are always controversial but I like what I've seen so far. On a R8 chassis lol The 911 is dead, we are going shared platform, so you will only be picking body shape going forward !
992 could well be the last real 911. The future looks bleak.
The 992 mules do not look good, but I've seen too many ugly Porsche mules to rule out a last minute save. I have my doubts though and I know a lot of people are looking past the .1 to the .2 while 991.1 values continue to hold up well.
One positive I've heard is that the Turbo'd engine sounds much better than the 991.2, one spotter said it sounded like it rev'd higher, so maybe Porsche have taken the complaints about the 991.2 'sounding like a damp fart' to heart.

Not really, no. Started losing interest at the 991.1 even after some decent seat time. 991.2 created even less of a flicker, not even tried to have a go in one. 992, who knows? I think Porsche seems to be losing their distinctiveness from other premium brands like Aston in look, feel and size. They probably don’t have any choice, but they’ve lost me. GT product might still be epic however. I’m looking forward to the 992.
The 991.2 is actually my favourite overall 911 so far (maybe I’m getting old!) because I like the fact it’s so rounded (super smooth, fast, still handles well, comparatively light). Still love the old favourites but not as an all-round car which is where I think the current 911s still stand out. The alterantives from Merc, BMW, Aston etc might excel in certain areas: Aston for the looks; BMW for tech perhaps; but the 911 does everything so well.
My hope is that the 992 develops things without sacrificing the simplicity that Porsche tend to get so right.

Having not had the experience of owning 911s through the generations, I've loved my 991, without having to compare it to previous models. The 991.2 GTS has had such glowing reviews across the board and so I'm looking forward to seeing whether this will be built upon with the 992 GTS. For me, it has to be rear drive and with a manual gearbox and I think as my 2nd 911, I'd plan to push the boat out a little more with the options so that there are no little regrets to annoy me.
