991.2 Bose stereo upgrade

I have very recently got a 991.2 with the Bose stereo. I’m not over happy with the sound it seems to be missing a ton of mid and some top end. The standard stereo in my Golf GTi is much better and jumping between the cars it’s really noticeable which is a real shame .

I’ve done a search and it seems a tweeter upgrade is the first thing I should try used the Burmester one with cover. Anyone know where I can source these from and none are for sale on eBay at the moment?

Has anyone done a more full upgrade? I don’t mind doing it myself but not sure what to replace speakers with. I don’t want to change the main amp or unit though.

I could live with it but if I can I’d like to make a bit better

I’m no expect so just an observation.
Somewhere I was reading or watching in last couple of days the correspondent said first thing they did was swap out the speakers almost as if it was the standard thing to do. Certainly would be easiest.
I’ve had 911s with and without Bose and TBH haven’t found Bose much better than std. They are not a great concert hall shape and have to much background noise for a great music experience.
Cayenne is waaay better and the best concert hall sound I’ve ever had was Touareg V10tdi which was mega.

Audiofile Incar have done a lot of 991 upgrades and have a few à la carte options. This is a example on a 991.2 T - system 3 so it's probably not the cheapest one. These guys did a full custom install in my previous R8, they wont be the cheapest but they look after your property and have already gone through the learning curve of trim removal, sound deadening and coding etc. Gary hallwood is one of best in the business.
