I was asked to do earlier upshifts on the back straight as I was ‘pinging’ the sound machines.
Good to know, do you know how the yellow 981 GT4 got on?

Spotted at Bedford yesterday. I had no idea they could pass the noise test these days at Bedford otherwise I'd have brought mine!

Looked superb on track - big fan of the silver wheels. Love the dish on the rears.

981 GT4s will set off the noise sensors, mostly the one coming out of the 1st corner so keep well to the right approaching the chicane and short shift a little bit. 718GT4s are just about OK even at full tilt.

Picked this up yesterday - coming from a GT4 RS it is true luxury. 18 way seats, PDK, Bose and several other luxuries not spec-ed by me. I've set the tyres to 30F 32R and it seems to work really well!
Lovely GT3, Why the swap?

That yellow car was formerly of this parish. A nice one!

And was the quieter exhaust quiet enough for Bedford ?

Yep. It passed the static (just) and I had no issues with the drive by, using the full rev range.

i’m at risk of derailing this GT3 prices thread. There is quite a bit of info already of the PH forum if you search for ChrisW - he was the previous owner.

A dedicated GT4 thread would be good.

I know there is a 718 GT4 thread but not sure if 981 talk is welcomed.

Excellent ... I found the noise test better done hot and I always dipped the clutch ... being careful not to take the revs higher than requested ... (easily done) smile

The answer for me was fitting an M&M exhaust with no noise traps ... slightly wider bore and live remapped for all the tuning work done. It seems to come in at around 3dB less than standard ... there is a separate thread on the tuning of the car ...

TDT knows him well. They’re normally lapping 2’ from each other’s bumper on track.

Happy to report I picked up my first GT car with THE engine yesterday. 991.2 CS with most of the options ticked (I think). OPC Bristol were great. And as you do, thoroughly enjoyed my track day today at Bedford and will continue to enjoy to learn the car as the year/s pass.

I put a deposit down when it was launched but I didn’t have the credentials…Porsche still took my deposit though…and as my sales guy came, took and left without a trace nor sound for a few years I asked for my deposit back. 6 years later I am in what I wanted smile

Just want to add that this thread has been so incredibly helpful. Thank you to all of you knowledgable enthusiasts, from a very happy and lucky chap smile
Has your car been lowered? Looks low & mean!

It goes against the grain deviating from the racing line but when you have spotted the location of the noise meter stay as far away from it as possible. You`d be amazed at the difference even a couple of meters makes. Also , 2 cars next to one another or in close proximity can become a problem.

I spent a little while in the room at Bedford and had first hand experience at how its operated. They can cancel the alert if its multiple cars at the same time but can only advise if its a single car everytime.

I got bounced off at Zolder for three cars at the same time carefully passing a noise meter. After I had been advised to come in on the next lap (by flags) ... I blitzed the last lap for a fastest pace and then asked what my last readings had been .... they were on the noise limit.

The above is good advice ... but it can ruin the flow of a circuit.

Zolder has now become "one of them circuits" massively affected by the NIMBY brigade. I went with a mate last year. He got binned early doors in his standard 981 GT4 and I got a warning in my standard 991.2 GT3 so did as you did and just went for it for the rest of the day with the view of early into the bar never to return again. It took till mid afternoon until the black flag was waved at me.

I thought I smelt a bit of a rat as some cars that were being thrown off were not the sort you would expect and not being driven particularly quickly either.... Surprise Surprise, by the end of the day there were hardly anyone circulating
