It's more this statement I find a little strange "The drive is amazing and with comfort mode is as comfortable as my Macan.", maybe that's just a bit of artistic license perhaps. I would never describe a GT3 as having suspension as comfortable as a Macan, unless I'd got into my Macan and driven it down the road by mistake and thought "oh FFS, why do I KEEP DOING THAT, I really need to get into the GT3 next time..."
I took a mate out in my car last year. The very first thing he remarked on was how well it rode. At the time this was a stock, standard 997.1 GT3 on standard (i.e. mostly dire) British roads. We hit a mix of just about everything, A, B and motorway roads.

His comment is not without merit, as his day job was with JLR, in development. He'd had access, at various points, to everything they've produced for the last 25 years.
I've had similar comments too, but I still find it a little odd to say the car is "as comfortable" as a Macan because it isn't, and there's nothing to suggest that was meant tongue in cheek. No big deal though, just thought it was an odd thing to read in a GT3 ad

I agree.

Oh I’m all too aware as to just exactly what they are, it’s more the vendor’s choice of words to describe them that concerns me ...
Yes, I'm with you.

I guess not everyone (even owners) shares the same obsession with these cars to the point where they know (or care) what they have beneath them. It's probably just been one of many itches that got scratched, the owner had some fun on track, and now the novelty has worn off.

I'm also slightly uncomfortable at the notion of how people can market these cars with a service that appears to be overdue (by quite some margin), wheels that need refurbishing, brakes that need replacing, and an interior that hasn't even had a quick once-over with a Hoover.. and that's just the detail that can be gleaned from the ad. I guess this is all reflected in the price though. You pays your money...

This looks a nice example: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/334205235574?hash=item4...

lets not be too quick to judge unless of course those that are poo pooing the car have spoken to the vendor

i have since the ad went up and he's straight as they come. i wished him well on the sale and having seen the car in the flesh, anyone seriously in the market should go see it

Assuming it was a genuine interest that got you to speak to him, what put you off the car?

So, having seen the car, are any of the details I gleaned solely from the advertisement incorrect? Apologies, if so. I'm sure the vendor is a lovely guy by the way, and I don't believe I ever indicated otherwise.

I thought you'd bought one some time ago?

I’ve not seen anyone, least of all myself, being too quick to judge the car or indeed the vendor, though the fact remains, the description of the brakes on the car is a misrepresentation. The calipers are indeed those fitted to the PCCB equipped cars, the discs however are not ceramic items, but on the face of it, the vendor’s description in his advert could be construed as suggesting the car has “ceramic brakes”, and that’s clearly not accurate.

The ceramic discs might be boxed up and included in the price? In which case the car has ceramic brakes, just not fitted at the moment.

Or the owner doesn't know or care which exact discs are on his car. A chat with the owner would soon clarify; I think it's a stretch to call it misrepresentation.

If I was buying a 997, ceramic brakes would turn me off. Who wants them anyway? hehe

Who wouldn’t? Sell them for £££‘S profit and stick some steels on if it bothers you. The CCB setup on mine is hands down the best braking setup of any car I have owned and one of my favourite things about the car. Don’t get me wrong I’m scared to death of damaging them, but if it haunts me that much I’ll stick them in a box and buy the cheap steel alternative. It’s win win

The bolded bit is why I think of them as being a yoke around the car's neck. smile Insane replacement costs compared to steels.

The lack of brake dust would be nice though...

You may well be right, they could well be boxed up and included in sale, so why not state that in the advert, rather than leave your advert open to accusations of misrepresentation .. ??

You seem keen to defend the vendor’s honour, how about you ring/email him and confirm your theory smile
Or are just posturing for the sake of it scratchchin

I totally understand your reasoning, but saying a CCB car would put you off makes no sense. Second hand they will fetch you far more than a set of two piece steels so it’s cash in the pocket against a steel car at the very least.

No brake dust plus no surface rust after cleaning are nice side effects too. I genuinely had every intent to immediately remove and stick on steels, but it’s a tough decision to make when they are just so good.

Just providing a counterpoint to the nitpicking of the advert.

I’d quite like one day to test, back to back, but I only did a couple of track days with the PCCBs on and would agree they are hugely powerful. I soon swapped out to Alcon steels and subjectively they seemed to have more feel on trail braking, but that could easily be me getting more confident all round.

Definitely less dust though.
