Seems some odd bidding on this already.Potential buyer asks:
"Hi Matt, You beat me to this back in July! Can you tell me why you are selling so soon? Did you have an inspection done prior to purchase? In which case do you have the last rev range report and vehicle condition report? Kind regards Dan
(by IbanezDan 2 hours ago)"
They person who asked doesn't wait for an answer and bids £65k, £10k over the current bid.
Why wouldn't you wait for a reply to the question if you were worried about why a previous buyer was selling so quickly? And why bid over the asking by so much?
Anyone know where it was sold and for how much in July?
One small issue contributing to lack of available cars would have been the dealer I agreed a sale with a few months back. The car was paid for on a Thursday with collection pended for a Friday. The car developed a puncture overnight, a repair was agreed first thing Friday, the car was then promptly written off by the dealer an hours later.
Oddly this weird turn of events saved me as it turns out the car has a hidden history that would have caused bother. None the less, one less car on the road

Big issue is, as I alluded to earlier in the thread, anyone that's got a 997.1 GT3 has no easy progression. If you like the type of car it is, then good as the 991 and 992 platforms certainly are, they cannot hold the exact same appeal.
Okay, the 997.1 GT3 RS is not too far off, but then it's not really that much of a different car.
The 997.2 GT3 cars are similarly quite a bit more but not that much different.
if you're going through the faff of selling and buying, you'd really want to see a bit more of an upgrade and that's really 997.2 GT3 RS.
Well seeing how the world and his dog in the automotive and media industry (just listen to the "5 car garage" answers on various of Sam Moore's podcasts) all agree the 997.2 GT3 RS is pretty much apex analogue, manual sports car, prices are bid up and extremely solid. 3.8 are strong and 4 litre are, frankly, stratospheric.

General drooly stuff about the 997.2 GT3 RS
It's all relative, I know, and don't get me wrong - I'd love a 997.2 GT3 RS as much as anyone, but I wonder how owning such a hallowed and special car with a value roughly double that of my current GT3 would temper it's use even further..I vowed I would use my car without regard for mileage, the weather, or use-case, but nonetheless such considerations have inevitably crept in from time to time and erode the idealistic carefree approach that I set-out with, and enjoyed with previous 997's
I reckon (for me at least) this would be off the scale as far as double-edged swords go, when it comes to 7.2 RS ownership.
The absurdity of it all is not lost on me.
Back on topic (ish): The silver car at auction on Collecting Cars is already at £68k (so circa £71.5k purchase price) after 1 day...

Slightly further O/T but for me at least, one of the few other cars I'd think of switching to is, perhaps a Lotus Exige.
Divert your Upgrade-to-RS kitty towards a S2 or S3 Exige and run alongside your GT3 for a while. I reckon it would be a lovely pairing with the cars having similar tactility and focus but at two very different weight divisions.Exige for Cadwell, GT3 for Spa, both for face-off at Oulton.

Nooooooo!I had a V6 for 18 months..
It is just not in the same league as a GT3, or most other Porsche products for that matter. The integrity is so sadly lacking unfortunately. The gear change alone on mine should have been enough for me to just take the car straight back (and that's before it became impossible to up-shift between 4th and 5th). I also never quite gelled with the handling (but clearly that's just me).
Best brakes of any car I've ever driven though (I put Alcons/RS29's on).

Exige was my main consideration in the end when going for mine - a GT4 fell short of the list because of the engine. The problem is I don’t think you could ever love an Exige in the same way as a Porsche. Don’t get me wrong I’m sure it’s on another level on track, but for something to cherish as well as use it just didn’t quite hit the mark for me.
RS’s and the like are just well out of any realistic price range for me, and as said above higher mileage 997 GT3’s are just about on the cusp as an acceptable amount of value to just enjoy and not wince at the loss of value (for me)…well they were 12 months ago.
I think this is the reason why the Cayman R is also so popular, which is obvious by the active thread of owners actually using their cars - such a thing just doesn’t exist for GT3’s which is a mega shame
Anyway about time I tucked mine away for winter

Yeah a 997.2 GT3 sold on CC for £75k+6% so £79.5k.I think this is the reason why the Cayman R is also so popular, which is obvious by the active thread of owners actually using their cars - such a thing just doesn’t exist for GT3’s which is a mega shame

You picked up your 997.1 GT3 with 61k for £51k+6% so £54k.
The silver 997.1 GT3 Clubsport with 40k was £64k+6% so £68k.
The good thing with Collecting Cars is you can search out historic sales.
Very few around, so people faced with paying more if they want one badly.
The silver car is not £71.5+6% so £76k with days to go.
Sure more will come onto the market next year. As you say not many people using them at this time of year.
I think your car is spot on as you can afford to use it without the value being in the low mileage. Perfect scenerio.

You seem to have omitted the more recent silver comfort with 22k miles that went for £81,620, and the white CS with 8k miles that went for £92,750.You picked up your 997.1 GT3 with 61k for £51k+6% so £54k.

The 997.2 you mentioned was late 2019...but no mention of the other 2 more recent sales - both of which went for over £100k..

You don't own a 997.1 GT3 do you. The 997.2 you mentioned was late 2019...but no mention of the other 2 more recent sales - both of which went for over £100k..
I did highlight the prices have risen and lack of supply means you now have to pay more for one.
The 997.2 to show how prices have gone up. Shantybeater as I was complementing him on his (great car and well timed purchase) and the silver 40k mile Clubsport as it had more miles but was a CS.
Fair play on the 22k Comfort, but the 8k CS you're paying for low miles which you then lose if you want to drive it.
As I've said lovely cars.
