The Sport Classic thing is ridiculous….it’s priced like it is because of the 997 but there are only 250 of them globally and it was a genuinely special thing to look at.

I’ve heard the line that the SC is unique because it’s effectively a RWD manual Turbo. Well that might be the case but you could have a GTS or a few other models as a RWD manual turbo too. It’s unique because it’s ludicrously expensive and has a duck tail. Which frankly looks daft on the 992’s fat arse.
I think the SC looks stunning, especially in SC Grey. I've done around 4K miles in them now and think its the ultimate Porsche grand tourer. Its very fast, very comfortable(glides over all but the worst surfaces), the interior is beautiful and it likes to wag its tail when pushing it.

Only dislike was the gearbox. I know the reason for 7 gears, but it was very easy to go from 6th to 3rd instead of 5th and 7th to 4th instead of 6th when driving around town. When pushing on it seemed to happen a lot less.

Yes the unicorn cars generally not bought by users which is fine as more assets .At least you can use this on the farm , I still do not get the Sports Classic appeal , one at OPC West London , for £350k .I have no interest at all but then my favourite Porsches are 964 RS and 993 GT2 so a bit of a beard.
But a classy "beard" smile

Herewith the Dakar at East London OPC yesterday ...

Classy,you dont know petersmile
That rothmans paint job looks good but completely spoiled by the very naff number decal and rough roads porsche ffs
Borrowed a mates one and have to say I really liked it, fancy a black one when they get down to list;

I thought these Dakars were meant to be rocking horse do do, so whats the story ?
My OPC was originally told they were getting two, at last count they’d had eight….
I think orginally demand wasn't great globally so OPC's in the UK ended up getting more than they thought they would.

Great cars though. So much fun in bad conditions.

Road turned into a stream....no problem. Cuts through standing water at speed, like a hot knife through butter!

Absolute tarts handbag of a car IMV. Gopping wheels and a rear wing that looks like a toenail clipping. Wilmslow on wheels.

It's quite surprising Porsche didn't restrict numbers of the 992.1 Dakar drastically so when overs went mental they could pump the numbers for the 992.2 Dakar-same as they did with the Sports Classic.

Or release it as a regular model, the 992.2 Carrera X (bit like when the 991R became the GT3 Touring).

Worth noting that all the, cough 'used', cars on the Porsche site seem to have buckets and cage fitted. Other than the black one, they are all plastered with stickers too.

Perhaps this, along with attempted overs, has stopped those who'd like one to use on a more daily basis from buying.

The stickers are easily removed (albeit a £2.5k bin filler) if the subtle look is required.
