997.2 gt3 Riviera Blue
Discussion
It was an option for light weight buckets or folding. Folding offer a lot more comfort but light weight are exactly what they say on the tin. They do look more dated though and feel much more at home in the gen1 I think.
It is a really hard car to price. I think Phil's car has sold as its no longer advertised, given that was priced at 130k with 20k more miles and a somewhat more modified past...I'm beginning to think 150k+ is not unrealistic as the spec is pretty serious on this... I don't think I've seen ANY GT3's in the country with not only a leather dash but matching stitching from factory. The story about the thicker steering wheel is quite a good one too given it was supposedly a factory order.

So here really is the perfect example and spec RB
It’s auction and result will determine and answer the often discussed hyped value and ‘it’s only worth what someone will pay’
Be interesting to see, but somehow even in these troubled times - I see it making a big number and rightly

Ahh thank you! The one in the picture doesn’t look factory either!
No worries. Tbh I’m not sure I ever looked that closely at Jon’s ( or to be precise the prior owner ) but iirc it was factory given how else it had been specced.
Mine was the factory supplied wheel but the Alcantara had been double wrapped according to the order form so unique apparently.

Two riviera blue ones on the market the same time. Common as muck

The car on Carhuna has stalled at £105k. Less than two days to go now. What do we think it will sell for? I’m guessing at £128k.
Surely it will go for higher than 128k ? There’s one or two on here who think this is as good as it gets for 997 gt3 ownership, if it only get to 128k surely they will have a bid.

So it seems Phil's car was either sold and is now back on the market, or advert ran out and has been relisted. I had read somewhere on a US forum that he had modified his rear arches slightly to fit a different set of wheels. OUCH!
I think the 9 owner thing would put me off. I'll stick with my 38k miles white GT3 997.2 CS thats still under Porsche warranty and 4 owners (three of who I know). It might have a couple more stone chips (extremely minor!) but I know its mechanically perfect and the paint is all original! Plus I can use it without worrying that it'll tank the value.

Yes Phil has rolled the arches on his 997, which is a step too far for me on modifications. Not sure being the 9th owner would put me off, more the price premium for that colour which although it looks lovely I don’t think it’s worth the potential £50-60k uplift over my 4 owner 11.5k miles white one, IMHO.
I am interested to see what it makes, and if was still in the market I would have been praying I could pick it up for < £120k. Personally I did not want the cage and really wanted axle lift so I probably own the right car for me, although I do think Riviera Blue is a special colour.

Like you, if I didn't own mine I would have been bidding but I couldn't justify the premium for a car I wouldn't be prepared to use. Ive already had too many garage queens and I soon lose the love for them when I feel I can't afford to put the miles on them.
Can I assume here that the car for sale here: https://carhuna.com/auctions/vehicle/2011-porsche-...
