Cheers all.

Context: I am currently considering to buy a 2012 991.1 C2S Cabrio. It has around 100K Miles (155K kms to be precise) and is in its third owner. It has all the services at Porsche and (most) of the invoices for the current owner (which has owned it for 8 years roughly). The car seems in good conditions despite the age and mileage, which I liked (I already have a garage queen, a 997 C2 with 68k kms, but want a daily to use without gilt).

I agreed with the owner that he would have Porsche Approved Warranty put on the car before selling.

There are a couple of things that have me thinking:

- When driving, I immediately noticed a lot of rolling noise - as in, it seems like a bearing or very very poor tires as it is a rhythmic noise - looking at the invoice from the latest service (Jan 2024), it says tire replacement is recommended and that than noise may disappear. Owner agreed to sell me the car with new tires. Could it really be only tires? They are 7 year old PZero, which I know are known for being noisy, but it was pretty notable. I thought that maybe the tires were even squared off from the car being sitting most of the winter. If its not the tires what could it be? If after changing tires it doesnt go away, how much could a couple of wheel bearings set me back? (1k, 2k?)

- Car has been owned during almost the first 100k kms (60k miles) by a rental car company - not a main stream company but rather one of those that only offers high end cars - Porsche and above. Would you be concerned? Do you think that even if Porsche would accept to give the warranty, could they ever walk away from a claim on the basis of the car having been owned by a rental company? Should I be concerned or just forget about it considering that there will be a warranty with the car and the current owner has had it for 8 years?

- On startup, outside, with cold weather (3 degrees Celsius) there was a noticeable white smoke cloud for a couple of minutes, in particular when the car has the initial higher revs and then gradually disappearing as the engine warmed up. I read that this seems to be normal, based on some reading on Rennlist, but I guess I would like to corroborate with others considering the specific (temperature) circumstances.

All in all, I think its a good purchase, seller seems decent and relatively transparent, good maintenance history and Porsche warranty, a lot of options and the cheapest 991.1 S for sale in continental Europe. Having said that, want to make sure that I get in with due care and not let myself take by the excitement of the purchase.

Thanks in advance for all feedback

Wishes of a great weekend out of Switzerland,
Nuno

Yes that noise can be tyres. Happened to me and I too thought it was a bearing.
Sounds like steam out the back which, at 3C, is perfectly normal.
I would not be keen on buying a car that had done 60K as a rental.
