I really wanted a Riviera 987.2 Spyder. Must have spent hours drooling over this...
Hey, I was the original owner of that Riviera Blue Spyder... Bought it from So-Cal, had it shipped up to Oregon. It currently resides in New Hampshire with it's current owner (3rd). I think it still has less than 5k miles on the clock! It was 1 of 1. Only 4 PTS were approved for the 987.2 for the USA.Navanod said:
Yup! Should be factory completed any day now. I have to wait around 2 months for transport to the west coast of the USA.
It's going to be a looooooooooooooooooong wait!
Worth the wait I'm sure. I'm hopeful that some day I'll be in the right place at the right time to secure a custom colour option It's going to be a looooooooooooooooooong wait!

Would't be too upset... This is the only yellow 987.2 Spyder in existence. Porsche only allowed roughly a handful of PTS Spyders for the first generation. Majority of them were in the USA (4 to be exact). Rivera Blue, Speed Yellow, Azure Blue and Meteor Grey (a Corporate Car). The only other one I know of is in Belgium, and to is painted Grey Black from the 997 GT3RS. For the 981 Spyder only 22 were approved for PTS in the USA... So a lot more than the original, but still barely any!Edited by Navanod on Friday 5th February 02:40
Agreed re Racing Yellow vs Speed Yellow... who looked at both of these colours and thought, yes, that's a step forward?
Also when picking up my McLaren yesterday had my first encounter with a Lava Orange 991RS. The colour just doesn't work... what were they thinking? Neither one thing nor the other, if it was a pearl / metallic it might have been ok but as a flat colour it's just... flat.

Lava is another one of these colours that looks great under showroom lighting but fails under natural light. Although I am a fan of ultra violet. Also when picking up my McLaren yesterday had my first encounter with a Lava Orange 991RS. The colour just doesn't work... what were they thinking? Good man! Well my wifey thinks the black wheels look sexy lol. Well you will be pleased to hear I have added alcantara sun visors & key pouch in leather Probably the most unnecessary additions to my spec but heh; think I just adds that bit of specialness.
Definitely. I think the right decision on both. Now if only CTS showed its head I'd be made up!
My final, final, absolutely final spec!

Ha ha sorry!I wish I hadn't searched it again also to be honest.
It's really made me wish I'd taken the plunge back in 2010 on the speed yellow. Damn it.
It just seems mad, I'd have something unique in the whole world.. Only rhd speed yellow 987 spyder. That would have been very cool.
Never see many cayman r in SY even though it was standard colour, but I think they look great with black wheels.

key pouch in leather
when I tried to buy from the parts department, it was double the factory priceWell here is me joining the Spyder club,up at 7.00 and flew down from the North East this morning and arrived home 12 hours later ! Many thanks to Daryl for selling me the car cant have been an easy decision.
Quick review from my experience today, I had never actually seen a Spyder in the flesh til today so really didn't know what to expect, I have a 63 plate 3.4S manual already which is a great car and I sort of presumed the Spyder would be just the same with a bit more power but this really is on another level, have to say it surpassed all expectations. , Its actually hard to believe its based on the same car, its a much more track focussed car, much stiffer, the brakes have loads more bite, Steering feels much better, turns in sharper, gearshift is much shorter and feels much improved and I think the best bit the exhaust noise, my 3.4s has PSE but this is better again ! , although I do think they will struggle on noise levels on track.
Couple of things I thought I would be disappointed with but actually wasn't , my S has Bose where this one has SPP and the music is actually pretty good and to be honest If it wasn't I would forgive it as the car makes a better noise with the radio turned off, no heated seats this was a biggie for me as Im always cold but with Alcantara I do not think its going to be an issue , the interior is red/grey which in Pictures I was edging towards black as I wasn't brave enough to spec red but it looks really well in the flesh and think now given the choice I would actually pick it over black , CWM, I would still prefer standard white. the Wind noise from the hood must say was a bit of a surprise, the S has none it just feels like being a tintop very well insulated where as the Spyder has none and the wind noise and outside noise level reminds me of the rare occasion I had the hood on my R500 caterham ! saying that It will never have to do another 320 mile motorway stint so will never be an issue again.
So all good so far.. I will get some more better pics once I get it cleaned up.
