Porsche website comparison says 10hp down on GT4 but 25kg lighter and a lower centre of gravity. Should be very close on track to say the least irrespective of slight suspension upgrade and rear tyres on GT4. And save £4k in process!!! Nice
only if you delete AC :-) as for track , the GT4 has 295/245's and you can dial in neg 2 camber and also have down force.I am not sure how track times are done but oem set ups are dire out the factory, although ring times must dial in some camber ?
not that you can do that on the Spyder.

I'm not sure oem settings are really that poor, I agree that in a race environment with two championship leaders it will make a difference but not for track day hooning! - I've not played with mine and probably wouldn't notice any change if I did!!I am not sure how track times are done but oem set ups are dire out the factory, although ring times must dial in some camber ?

With no aircon the Spyder is a full 25kg lighter so with the lower centre of gravity I agree it will probably be same as the GT4 on track. So £4k up, super rare and a cab to boot!As Adam has already confirmed, OEM setup is invariably spot on, including ' GT' cars..

As I am known as Mr Slow on here I have nothing to loose in my bendy soft top Boxster these days on track ;-)So I'll put my money were my mouth is , you get your Spyder and I'll get my GT4 and I'll wager a £500 bet at a how fast day at Bedford with you.
cannot be fairer than that can I ? with your skill's, Plus every one else knows I am Mr slow, must be a sure fire winner for you with that lower COG.

The lighter and lower centre of gravity (witness mag roof on the GT3 RS) ragtop Spyder could well make up for any advantage the GT4 has with its GT3 borrowed front suspension........
seriously though , er I am serious,
I don't care much for jurno talk, not much has been really said about the GT4, how it handles, downforce, sus adjustment etc if you look at all the reviews, just talk, nothing interesting in real terms.
All the mags turn up, do a few laps write a bit and onto the next, meaningless.
But I am 100% serious about the £500 wager.

Ah, I remember having a similar conversation in 1980 when we all got our first BMXs (although I think we were betting a packet of KP Space Raiders rather than £500). PS I was 9 then...
Edit - I've just noticed that they use Viper Green on the packets - perhaps it's a sign.

folding buckets standard on Spyder and not on GT4. If you spec buckets on GT4, the 25kg advantage is reduced by about 12kg?saving is more than £4k if you want a GT4 with buckets

Aha - Monseur GT4! I hereby accept your wager, but as you know Mr Yellow struggles with those horrid outdated manual gearbox things. So shall we say same bet at Angelsey? So I'll put my money were my mouth is , you get your Spyder and I'll get my GT4 and I'll wager a £500 bet at a how fast day at Bedford with you.
