Some German dude said this on another forum:
Hallo to everyone from Germany.
Couldn't resist to drop a line.
Please excuse if my english isn't perfect.
I ordered a Spyder here in Germany with a slot for September this year.
The first Spyders will be arriving at Porsche Exklusive Showroom beginning of July.
There're currently NO Spyders at any showroom in Germany.
NONE, Zilch, ZIP............ NADA
The car simply won't be available at any dealership, cause all slots for Germany are sold. Yep, you got it right - SOLD OUT.
There's a similar Porsche Forum in Germany where Spyder Owners/Buyers exchange infos. In our opinion the total qty. of Spyders for Germany is less than 240 !!! - and an estimated 550 worldwide. If you got an allocation - you're lucky.
The pictures you've been seeing here from Spyders, running on German roads were partially taken by members of the Forum and posted there.
There are currently 3 cars running on German streets as "Press-Cars" for Press presentations. There won't be any serial production car available anywhere to be seen before July.
The ones of you who got a July slot, will be served with Spyders around the same time as here in Germany.
@ all Owners - Congratulations on buying the Spyder

Do you think this is Mr Demon's German alter ego, making amends for dissing the Spyder in the UK?

It could be, although he doesn't go on to say the rear of the car is actually quite nice.
who you guys call DUDE?TOMMYs
Yep, I'm the one writing the original post on the rennlist forum in the US.
A bit more politeness would be nice.
Anyway. This is the way the situation is for the German market.
And as I'm already posting here, I`d like to ask a question regarding the allocation that you know of for the UK.
We startet to count the allocations we know of to calculate the possible total slots for Germany.
If you guys know about the allocations your dealers may have gotten and if you know the number of dealerships in the UK, we may end up with a calculation how many slots there may be in total.
Our main goal is to find out the total of allocations. At least in the US, UK and Germany or at best worldwide.
For the Moment we believe the total of Spyders to be build worldwide to be around 1200.
Cheers Tom

Hi Tom
From what I've read and know, it's about three cars per dealer - certainly this is the case of two Midlands dealers (Solihull and Leicester)
So if that's average for the 34 UK dealers, that makes just c100 cars coming to UK in the first (and only?) wave? That's going to make it rarer than the 987……….but I know, not necessarily better. From what I've read and know, it's about three cars per dealer - certainly this is the case of two Midlands dealers (Solihull and Leicester)
Solihull is where I have my allocation.
If Dude is cool - It's cool with me as well :-D
If you guys know more about the slots your dealerships have, go ahead and post it.
How many OPCs are there anyway in the UK?
@Beaver:
I'm goin to pick a PTS Coor. for the moment it might be Slategrey, though it tends to change every day :-D

Sorry if I've missed this but has anyone heard of the bucket seats no longer being available. A friend of mine is about to confirm his order with OPC Newcastle and they've told him he can't have the buckets. This is a massive thing to him given the manual box, drivers car type of spec, so he's completely stumped on what to do.
Should he allow his place to go to another buyer and hope to get another slot?
What if he doesn't get another slot?
The OPC have told him even a GT4 buyer wasn't allowed to spec them the other day.
Any advice really welcome as time is of the essence, due to his spec lock date.
I've never had a new Porsche so can't help.
Thanks.

The earliest build date I've heard of, since they confirmed delays, is Oct so there's a good few weeks yet before he needs to lock down spec. Should he allow his place to go to another buyer and hope to get another slot?

Personally I won't be taking the car without buckets so when it comes to lock down if they aren't available I'll be insisting I hold my allocation until buckets are available.
I assume he's not confusing sports buckets with the 918 lightweight buckets, the latter I understand aren't and won't ever be an option for UK Spyders. I have sports buckets in my 987 Spyder which are great so not too disappointed on that front.
Thanks for the advice. I did just find the thread about the same issue on GT4.
So he can either take the car as soon as it's ready but with the electric sports seats (non-buckets for the purpose of this conversation) or insist he gets buckets even if he's in for a wait. I'll pass that on.
I doubt he'll be confusing them with 918 buckets, he's simply choosing between whatever was on offer at launch, but I will double check with him.
Porsche will have a few people held over a barrel with this one as my friend, like several others on here has sold his immaculate low mileage 987 Spyder to fund the new one. Pretty annoying situation.

knowing Newcastle Porsche they are probably pushing him down the non bucket route so they get their cars sold quicker rather than the potential wait for payment later..Should he allow his place to go to another buyer and hope to get another slot?
