10kg weight for the electric roof I would take to allow the car to be a 1 car usable buy.

as for the GT3, are then not making a run out 911 Sport with GT3 engine , no rear steer but in Manual ;-).
I agree, the roof would be easier to live with if it was electric. It's not though, is it.

I also didn't like the old roof enough to buy one, as was the case with other potential 987 spyder purchasers. I respect that you love it.

This is not a GT4 without a roof, we know that. It is more of a GTS further tweaked but with a bigger engine. Hope that makes you happy!

For me, the idea of it not being quite as hardcore as a GT4 isn't a bad thing. The sports chassis is similar to the old 987 spyder, I believe, and makes a big difference to having PASM which works but feels like another disconnection to the road for me. I started to notice what PASM does on my old 987 towards the end of running it so am happy with the sport chassis, but agree it is not bespoke to spyder this time in terms of model lineup.

It depends on what you want the car for.

I wonder if it has exactly the same exhaust system as the GT4?

I can't imagine Porsche building 2 different exhaust systems for the 3.8 liter engine on the 981 platform

The R had a bespoke exhaust over the last Spyder.

So while it seems that would be a daft thing to do , Porsche do build bespoke bits for cars in small numbers.

Wonder what the reason for this was - sound or to peg it above the spyder? I thought they just mapped the engine differently to get the HP difference?

7:47 ring time for the spyder is incredible when you look at the company it keeps! But for me it's all about how the car feels and makes me feel....

The tube between the manifold and the actual exhaust housing is enlarged from 48mm to 55mm.

Think that was the only difference.

Call me old fashioned but I just don't understand why someone would come into a forum to talk about the things they don't like about a car they are not going to buy on a forum for people who are excited about getting the said car. Very childish and quite boring now.

it's not a 981 thread or buyers thread !

it about talking about Spyders of which I own ;-)

why not start a " Prospective 981 Spyder thread" like we all did for the GT3 , GTS, GT4 etc

That could also be for sound reasons - the Cayman R, lovely as it is, has a dreadful drone to it at motorway speeds as I found when I had one for 5 days.

some have a compulsion to justify previous purchases, and some believe that, with sufficient repetition, opinion becomes fact smile

who ?

I sold my M3 in 2 months and my GT3 before that in 8, I often talk about why, I don't stick up for any car, just say it how it is. best way imo
too much 1 make forum love some times or clicky groups talking bks.

I'll tell new owners how it is full stop, good and bad. many just post the all good bits , no point having a forum imo if that's all we all do. !

WE cannot say what dealers are poor as it is.

misaligned trunk or flaps open then imo as I can get it to drone, but I can also get mine to cruise no issue.
just adjust the rubber bump stops on the trunk or change cruise speed 3 mph !

I know! I had ruled out red as it's quite shouty, but it looks amazing doesn't it?!
