German Motorblock Review

Right, better not miss my flight!
exactly the same text as

http://www.autozeitung.de/auto-fahrbericht/porsche...

looks like one independent reviewer is selling his text to multiple outputs. smile

Very pleased to see some positive reviews - also that ring time of 7.47 is a mere 5 secs behind the GT4!

It looks like it will be a joy on track.

I'm off to the configurator!!

Am I wrong or does one of the German reviews say it has 911 Turbo steering so not GTS then.

Apparently so, plus same gear shift as the GT4

So less and less GTS in the mix.
Suspension of course but I enjoyed that when I test drove a BGTS with sports suspension.

"so much better than its predecessor"
That was a very pleasant read whilst eating my lunch biggrin

If it does have 911 turbo steering, any idea if this refers to the 10% reduction to the steering rack (loved this on the 987) or is it software related, or both?

Anyone driven a 991 turbo who can compare?

Quote from the Evo review of the 991 turbo. If the spyder has similar steering then it could well be a step up from the GTS and S model boxsters :-)

http://www.evo.co.uk/porsche/911/7303/porsche-911-...

"While not quite as impressive as in the new 911 GT3, the 911 Turbo’s electric power steering is much nicer than it is in regular 991-gen Carrera models. There’s additional weight and a welcome dose of extra communication, with more of our test route’s frequent road imperfections presented through the steering than normal, and with greater clarity. The majority of grip communication still comes through the chassis, though"

Lol @ the better looking comment in the telegraph review. No doubt a great car and looks are subjective. All the new Porsches have some cheap plastic here and there. The turbo and gt3 side scoop plastic is the cheapest I have felt. What ruins the Boxster and even on the previous spyder to an extent is all the plastic on the rear fairing.

The amount of it on show in the new spyder just cheapens the look. Should have been painted as others have said.

I had the red interior in my last Spyder.
I tried, but just couldn't live with it..

for me, the new classic interior has too much black.

Autocar review now online.

http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/porsche/boxste...

Very interested to read their quote " It’s the most powerful Boxster yet, and will be for the foreseeable future (a racier version was discussed but the idea was dropped)"

Looks like this Spyder won't be joined by a GT4 version. Guess that makes it even more desirable in a few years time.

Still sticking with white (non metallic) with black wheels for mine, after giving yellow careful consideration when I saw it at Goodwood.

Don't you think that black wheels just lose all the lovely detailing of the spoke design itself? There is a sort of dull matt gold, might be called Platinum, that I saw on a new 911 - have a look at that. Would look stunning with white.

reviews are annoying

old car:
"with an ugly, fiddly canvas roof that had to be raised and lowered by hand"

agree, but er so is the new one !

about the old one:
"It received a new engine, too, in the shape of the 3.4-litre flat six "

I am quite sure no new engines were about , it's an engine from 2008 !

old car:
"Porsche had gone to the trouble of stiffening the chassis"

I think it's the same chassis as the standard car !

new car
"Five years later and the manufacturer has endeavoured not to repeat the same mistakes with this new version."

but it still has a "ugly, fiddly canvas roof that had to be raised and lowered by hand"
Just now you cannot open the boot, and inside it looks like a 1970.s rag top !

"semi-automatic in its fastening " lol give over, nothing really automatic about it bar the release catch !

"It’s the most powerful Boxster yet, and will be for the foreseeable future"
they have no idea what is coming in the future ! some say much bigger BHp from the turbo's.

"gets the same front and rear end from the GT4"
HOw the fc*k have they put the rear of the GT4 on a Boxster !

POOR reviews as are most car reviews these days. ZERO real info and mostly bks .

Yes. I've thought this for a while. I've spec'ed the Platinum but I'm having second (third/fourth/fifth) thoughts. A) 'cus' what you say above and B) because I've gone for gray/silver inside so I should repeat that on the outside. However without regular cleaning the wheels are going to become Platinum anyway.

I've gone for Colour to Sample so can't compare the two different colours against my paint choice - Riviera Blue - and don't really know which would work best.

This long wait is fun but is giving me WAY too much time to think!

I think they were referring to the same front & rear PU to be fair - In the meantime I shall look forward to my drive Aug 3rd and then without any journalistic assistance I can make my own mind up on how good bad or fugly this 3.8L GTS with crap roof really is - beer

I had the silver Spyder alloys on my last one but I think the side stripe helped provide a contrast. I was a little disappointed with the Carrara white metallic Spyder at Goodwood on the Porsche stand. Car looked dull and it helped support my choice of non metallic white with Matt black wheels. Car is due to be built in October so my window for change is shortening by the day.

You have to unplug the rear buttresses first and to do that you have to release the roof from the header rail using the new electronic release button. SIMPLES tongue out
