So you can't simply lift up the boot and the buttresses come loose but still attached, then you shut it again, looks to me like the whole back panel comes up together like the old one ??All this 987v981 Spyder got me thinking would owners of the 987 trade for 981 if same engine?NO and some of us would not trade for the bigger engine!Likewise if you had a CR and the gt4 was only a 3.4 x73 you would not trade and I think if it did not have gt3 suspension and aero but still had the 3.8 some would still keep the CR
As for values of the 987 if the 981 does well the 987 will do better!MK1s are always worth more than mk2s 20 years down the line ie mk1 golf Gti v mk2 the smaller engine less powerful car is the purists choice and commands higher prices!

A curious business with that rear boot, as it would seem the buttress attachment areas could easily have been mounted on the body itself rather than the bootlid, to avoid the problem.
Still, if unclipping a couple of things before opening the boot is too much trouble...
Surely it needs to be attached to the boot lid so you can tension it just like the 987 ??Still, if unclipping a couple of things before opening the boot is too much trouble...
And if that's the case why can't the boot be opened and closed, pretty sure you don't electrically release anything under tension ??
Or am I really still missing something
PS - If that video further up is of the roof operation, I don't have access to you-tube at the moment.

You are missing the fact that the attachments do not arc upwards when the lid opens (as in the 987), but move upwards and BACKWARDS, adding to - not relieving - the tension. And if that's the case why can't the boot be opened and closed, pretty sure you don't electrically release anything under tension ??

And looking at the roof operation videos, the amount of tension added or released by popping open or closed the lid is absolutely minimal. They seem to work it just from the clicked open position, for example. Almost as if the buttresses are actually elasticated.

The buttresses are just "for show" now. I think the 981 roof would work exactly the same if you were to cut the off, unlike with the old version where they anchored the roof to the car.

Another positive review in the Times. Flags the long gear ratios though:

Cayman GT4 will have the same issues except with a tin roof above robbing some of the wind in the hair fun factor & soundtrack from out backhttp://www.driving.co.uk/car-reviews/first-drive-r...

Still no you-tube for me. Not to worry should get a closer look on the 29th at the PEC, wonder if it's going to be a RHD car ??This would have been useful at the recent Mayfair viewing.
Much tugging and probing ensued as we all tried in vain to release the flaps.
Two days later I showed a friend how to stow and erect his 987 Spyder's roof.
"You start by opening the doors, and then.."
He looked dazed from there on in.

Hah! Trust he's enjoying it though?Much tugging and probing ensued as we all tried in vain to release the flaps.

This week I'm thinking guards red (think his incoming 987 was guards as it happens?):
Tick tock...!
He loves it - and it looks great in Guards Red, particularly as it has silver wheels.
I can't see him ever bothering to put the roof back on though..
When is your build?
Mine is November but PTS is presumably going to make that a bit longer.
Seems weird to not be getting it this summer, can't quite imagine picking it up in the depths of winter.
