PEC told me that they had to wait in line like everybody else. So as they have theirs others can't be far behind....

But thinking about it now PEC must get their car very near the front and they often get pre-production or demonstrators.

Imo lwbs are a rip off price at c£1000 over free standard buckets especially as only c £400 more on the GT4.

Personally I would stick with the standard buckets on the SPYDER which I have gone for on my gt4 which i find more comfortable (had in my 987 SPYDER)but are still a £1500 extra!

Agreed and of course they can be heated unlike the lwbs......essential in a cab.

Quite contrasting and bizarre price differential on options between the Spyder and GT4 in particular coloured stitching, carbon and of course the buckets......confused

You don't really need them heated as the alcantara does not get that cold like full leather I had heated leather sports seats in my previous car which was great but didn't miss the heated seats in my SPYDER personally I would save the money and use it for climate control

As I have gone for "full leather" the standard folding bucket seats with heat was the best way to go rather than giving up the heat for the LWB non folding chairs plus having to pay another £967 odd for the switch eek

All the more reason to have heated seats for you then!

Tick tock! Not long now till my Boxster GTS with a 3.8, crap steering, ugly speedster humps and poorly designed roof arrives biggrin

Hi all
Sorry about delay in getting back to you but been away from internet coverage for a few days.

Thanks for the various information on build dates and lock-in time. Seems to me as I may be able to change specification if I wanted to despite what my OPC has told me for a December build.

One of the reasons (there are others) I may want to change my specifications is in regard to Alcantara for the std bucket seats and its longevity as opposed to leather.

I have had various cabriolets (so am aware of how much dirt etc can enter the car when open topped and using over an extended trip) with leather seats etc and am concerned that if the Alcantara is not cleaned it will lose its pleasant appearance as well as having the possibility of water staining if caught out in the rain.

I have been told by my OPC that there is no option other than having the seat bases and other parts in Alcantara ( I have optioned wheel and gearstick in leather) but have always been slightly confused by the Spyder Configurator where It States "Standard Interior / Alcantara or Leather Seats" !!

I will ask my OPC as it now seems that full leather std bucket seats (centres not Alcantara) may be available as daro911 has said.

Please excuse my ineptitude at posting replies correctly (I must ask the kids)

Certainly with the 987 Carbon Buckets, the alcantara base cushion is just held on with velcro, therefore it should be easy enough to replace if you want to (or even recover in leather using the base cushion).

Alcantara should be ok if it gets wet (you just need to let it dry out) but I suspect something like scotch guard/equivalent may help to stop it getting grubby.

Got a GT3 and a Cayman R. Both will have to go as a new Boxster Spyder around 100.000 pounds here in norway.

Spec as follows:

64l tank
918 seats
GT silver with spyder red interior
manual AC
CDR
smokers package
smoked tail lights

Nothing else, just pure driving pleasure.

is the exclusive sports end tips worth going for?
