I went to see my local OPC today and as we know, there are more Manual GT4's coming next year but there are no more plans for Spyders.
I said to him that i would give him a deposit today but he confirmed that as far as he knows certainly at the moment, no more Spyders are being built.
it looks like the Spyder is the limited number car whereas the GT4 will be made in larger numbers…
Not sure there is yet any confirmation the gt4 will be made in bigger numbers next year but who cares enjoy your car, I said to him that i would give him a deposit today but he confirmed that as far as he knows certainly at the moment, no more Spyders are being built.

I spoke to Reading OPC today to try and view the cars for colours etc as they came in to be prepared
He said I was a member of a very exclusive club in being the owner of the Spyder
I guess he is bang on the money with that statement
Very very few cars
Who cares about the premium !!
so Autocar was wrong about it being unlimited supplyHe said I was a member of a very exclusive club in being the owner of the Spyder

Out with the old and in with the new- no one is going to be disappointed with this fabulous car. Whilst the GT3 is the ultimate track weapon the spyder is loads more fun on my local roads and a better daily driver. I'm a very happy bunny!! (Massive understatement)
This must be one of the best sports cars as opposed to super cars yet produced. I can't see how you need any more for the road.
I visited my OPC in Stockholm after hearing some rumors that the first Swedish Spyder has arrived. The car was in Rhodium Silver,
it looks even better in real life. And when I saw it in motion today I must say it just has to be one of the most beautiful cars in Porsche's model
range the last 10 years.
My Spyder gets into production on Monday and I started to count hours. Here are some pictures of today!

I was going Sapphire Blue or GT with the classic interior
But that red looks great
What now !!
I'd be careful with the sapphire blue/classic combo - could look a bit Spider-Man! GT silver would be better. But that red looks great

Someone at Mayfair made a good point about picking a classic Porsche colour for the spyder rather than Sapphire which might date etc. Ultimately if you love it then you have to order it though!
250 miles around North Wales today taking in the Evo Triangle and the best B roads with very little traffic. I can honestly say it's the best road car I've owned by a serious margin.
All the comments regarding tall gearing and only using first and second are utter rubbish - clearly I've not been bouncing off the rev limiter but it's a wonderful gearbox and short shifting at 6k rpm gives you the full spread of the box - it's a joy to use and even 'running in' is seriously rapid.
Given its smaller size and flowing direction changes I'd venture that the Spyder is quicker, in fact much quicker, than a GT3 on B roads. Although the torque figures are similar the lighter weight gives a big advantage, the noise is better and you have a soft top.
Still love GT3s on track though - I don't think the Spyder would see which way a 991 went!!

Looks fantastic posed like that and pleased to see a fellow Spyderman using the car in the correct topless mode All the comments regarding tall gearing and only using first and second are utter rubbish - clearly I've not been bouncing off the rev limiter but it's a wonderful gearbox and short shifting at 6k rpm gives you the full spread of the box - it's a joy to use and even 'running in' is seriously rapid.

I drove the PEC car last week on some of the local Silverstone roads, and can't really disagree with your comments.
The gear ratios being tall/quoted max in gear speeds are exacerbated by the fact the red line has risen since the 987 as well.
Glad to hear they aren't bothering you as this is the one question for me still unresolved after my PEC drive as I did not drive it on the road.
Compared to my chunky 360 (which is too big for many UK roads if I'm honest) I think the spyder will be a great size compromise.
