Boxster Spyder

There is a nice in depth article in GT Porsche this month comparing the 987 Spyder with the 981 Spyder.
It reads as if it is written by Mr Demon/Porsche GT4's nemesis!
(On the 987 Spyder) "is it as rewarding to drive as the new car? No."
"Despite what we may have thought at the time, the original Spyder was not quite the potent machine it might have been. The new iteration, however, is..."
"The 987 Spyder cannot live with it"
(On the 981 Spyder) "it's tough, very, very tough to see how the GT4 is markedly better than this Spyder"
"The steering feel is beautiful, nicely weighted on the faster roads, easy to manoeouvre in town"
I don't really mind either way - I have a 981, but the 987 is a great car that offers great value. It's great Mr Demon bait though!

Interesting. Currently on my 4th Porsche - 997 Gen 2 C2S which I really love. What would I get next? For not crazy money it would have been a 981 Boxster Spyder. Wouldn't change to get into a newer 991; possibly a 997 Gen 1 turbo. If there were allocation left I think it would have to be the Spyder. You are a lucky chap. According to my OPC they have been informed by Porsche that GT4 won't continue in the 718 series; but didn't comment on the Spyder. Personally, if a model has been that successful & a sell out surely they would release another GT4 & Spyder in the future. It reads as if it is written by Mr Demon/Porsche GT4's nemesis!

New Sportauto has a handling comparison of 11 cars.
Spyder received a lot of praise as expected. Even won the overall test vs. a 488 GTB and was faster than the Ferrari through the corners. They likened it to the GT86 with far higher limits.
488GTB was on MPSS, Spyder on Pzero Nero N1
I don't think I'm allowed to post the whole article but two screenshots should be ok:

Am I right in thinking all allocation for 981 Spyder has been taken as with GT4? Its just I came across an October review of the 981 Spyder saying that unlike the GT4 numbers are not restricted. But was sure they are. No response to this question from my OPC.
Double check but I think you will find that October comment was correct at the time but a little misleading as it was referring to a few extra 2016 build slots which I believe are all long gone - Easy way to check is email all 34 OPC asking if they have an allocation left I know someone who did do this back at the beginning of November and got just one response but he only wanted one car so deal done daro911 said:

Thanks for suggestion. Most have replied with the standard - all allocation now sold etc. But possibly could sneak in if there is a cancelled order. Not holding my breath; but not too disappointed as still really enjoying my 997 Gen 2.Substantial markup but looks great - buckets too:

While I'm not a track time numbers junkie, this is pretty amazing. Obviously it is a bendy track, but it just shows how quick the Spyder is. First time a boxster can truly keep up with the big boys. Obviously the 488 would annihilate it on longer straights!Spyder received a lot of praise as expected. Even won the overall test vs. a 488 GTB and was faster than the Ferrari through the corners. Very tempted to pick one up now it has been reduced. Still reckon the price has a little more to go down, but is a great buy for someone that missed out on list price.http://www.romansinternational.com/car/1106/porsch...
