After seeing the pictures I never realised the 981 fabric door handles were horizontal as opposed to vertical loops on my 987 Spyder.http://www.romansinternational.com/car/1106/porsch...
Learn something every day, are they still the 2 pull opening like the 987?

With al this talk of premiums over list, what have the other buyers of 981 Spyders done in regard to insurance values?
For my case I went for value of £89k as it could cost that if I could find another car to replace it.
This has been covered extensively on other threads......we had this problem with the GT3s when they hit £170k last year! Problem is, its virtually impossible to get agreed value over list on cars under 1 year old. So the only option is to supply evidence of asking and sale prices and state a figure of say £90 k in the case of the Spyder although whether the insurer would pay out over list remains to be seen......For my case I went for value of £89k as it could cost that if I could find another car to replace it.
Good evening.
Slight change in direction on this thread.
I seem to remember that there was a fellow pistonheader in Nottingham area that had a white 987 Spyder he wanted to sell.
Please could he PM me as I would like to speak with him.
Many thanks.
By the way i agree that Spyder at Romans does look lovely.....

Is this the one looks like it has been bought by a specialist or may be on SOR.

Hi Folks,
Have just placed a deposit on a new 981 Boxster Spyder. It has been a funny 'ol week. Have a 997 Gen 2 C2S PDK - only bought her ten months ago & really enjoying it. But as you do - dream about "what next". I was thinking I would quite like a more driver focused Porsche for my next car (buckets, manual, sports suspension, sports exhaust - everything my 997 doesn't have). It would also have to be special to get me out of the 997 which I have been enjoying & not crazy GT3 prices. I was incredibly lucky to find an OPC which had a wobbly customer who just cancelled an order.
Emails went out last friday & today deposit down. Lock down in January, April build, late April/early May delivery - so not long to wait either. I can't believe how lucky I am. So excited. So the fun starts with choosing exterior colour. Keep watching you tube vids & keep changing my mind. Probably won't be black as my last three Porsche's have been black. Quite like Sapphire Blue, Guards Red & GT Silver - think I have narrowed it down to those colours.

Congrats! I think you'll be very happy with the car! As I have said before, for me the weakest point is the low front splitter but this can be replaced fairly cheaply (it's under £200).Have just placed a deposit on a new 981 Boxster Spyder. If you want to look at a guards red one to help you choose colour, you're welcome to look at mine in NE London. I'll be around in mid Jan.

Thanks. Wasn't really looking to change as 997 is a great car. But just think this will be a more fun & driver focused car. Sounds like you are very happy with the car & colour? I'am sure you went through the same dilemma of what colour. And its a personal thing. And with not many cars in the flesh to see its a leap of faith. But the shape of the Spyder seems to suit most of the colours so don't think I could make a really bad mistake. I like all three colours I have shortlisted. May take you up on your offer if I have time.If you want to look at a guards red one to help you choose colour, you're welcome to look at mine in NE London. I'll be around in mid Jan.

That Roman's car is now a bit of a relative bargain for someone. Should definitely sell now.
£10k over list is still difficult to stomach on a car that Porsche say won't have limited production. It looks the business but is still lacking key spec to make it universally acceptable (PCM and mobile prep, PDLS, Bose etc). I could potentially be in the market for this car, and I have sat in it (not least to check my fit with LWB's) as Roman's is just up the road, but I still can't bring myself to spend over list.

All spec sorted except for colour Gt silver, Red or a voice in my head keeps saying it will be great in yellow! ok, what about black?

Very happy. All things considered, it may be the best/most complete car I ever own with an NA combustion engine.Flat black looks amazing on the Spyder if you can wash it often enough. I would have seriously considered black if I was able to wash the car weekly. I think the YouTube videos of black cars look stunning.
I like GT having owned a 987S in that colour with cocoa interior, but think it needs a sat plat or black wheel to finish it off as I found the PEC demo car a little bland personally. I'm probably also a bit used to the colour having had it before...

Yes I agree the lack of PCM and phone prep is the reason its not sold. But not lack of overpriced Bose and PDLS when the standard lighting is fine for the cars performance.
I think PCM is crap, so didn't spec, but I agree phone prep is essential in a car these days. I use Waze which is way better than the old tech of PCM. Appreciate I may have shafted myself come resale, though my intention is for the car to be a keeper. Things can change of course.Gassing Station | Boxster/Cayman | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
