Can anyone tell me the price of a decent tracker? One that insurance companies will recognise, and pref one with an app or similar whereas I can also track the car (is there such a thing??)
When I pick my car up in 3 weeks, it's something I am seriously considering getting done
I'll probably be using these guys www.tracker.co.uk well known & reputable.
Reading on the GT4 thread, Porsche will invalidate your warranty with a third party tracker.... worth checking with them first before you go down that route.

I used these guys

http://www.trackersecurity.co.uk/tablet/buy.html

About £220 to buy a battery powered tracker (so doesn't interfere with your warranty) and £120 per year subs.

Cheapest way I could find to please the insurance co.

tried Locktons (aston martin club insurer ? ?) but I couldnt get a quote online so called the number but office is shut .

on Confused , LV were the cheapest at £440 for me but require a tracker at level 5 fitting which doesnt sound cheap time you add that!

tried Admiral they insure with no tracker but they dont recognise 25 years no claims with motor trade policy so they doubled the quote !

anyone else got a sensible quote to insure with no tracker ?
£560 Marsh / Porsche 0845 600 6502 - £K 71 value , 7 years NCB , < 6000 miles a year . Hope this helps

any idea on costs for Porsche tracker ? financially it doesnt stack up to get one fitted , quote I had today for a level 5 was £799 then £199 for a year, £390 for 2 and £580 for 3 years, this was for a Scorpion and at that sort of costs I will likely sit down in the morn and click my way through the list of insurers and get quotes from the ones that dont insist on a tracker, Admiral will insure me without but wont recognise my no claims but even that is still cheaper than fitting one.
I would seriously consider using Marsh / Porsche insurance. I have found them to be excellent, I also switched my wife's Touareg to them as the price was competitive. They are underwriter by Aviva. You won't need a Tracker for your Spyder to meet the insurance requirements. I would not touch Admiral with a barge pole. I had a really bad experience with them when my house was broken into. In short they did not pay out because I did not have the alarm on although I was upstairs in bed. I was treated very badly they are absolute s**t. If I was fitting a tracker though I would pay the premium to the dealership. I have had trackers in the past in three of my previous Porsches, I wouldn't go anywhere else to get one fitted, and yes its a couple of hundred quid a year for the service which in essence is an extra premium on your insurance.

I've just driven home in a Boxster S loan car with PDK. The speed and handling differential with the Spyder is absolutely vast, in fact the 'S' almost feels like a different car. I can't believe there is only 60 or so bhp between them!
Not sure if you mean in a good way !!

I read somewhere Admiral want to know if you've been on a speed awareness course in their questions for a quote.

thats a good quote, I will give them a call in the morning see what they come back with and report back , looks as though I will be doing this with no no claims as the 3 companies I have spoken with today do not recognise thick end of 30 years no claims held on a motor traders policy frown

Strangely I popped my Mrs onto a quote earlier (she will never drive it ) and that took another £80 off the quote from LV , that came down to £360 but Im sure they want to see a Tracker or they do for my trade policy as I have that with them.

Well , finally picked up the Spyder today.

Very early days < 100 miles on the clock , but I think that we are going to get on fine !

I have to say they are a clever lot - it's as if they've decided to engineer something that is simply perfect for anyone who genuinely loves the thrill of driving - I can't believe there is another car on the planet that is packed with as much good , clean , wholesome fun as the Spyder - it oozes it from every pore. It so reminds me of my old air cooled 911 - it is a proper car that you drive for drivings sake - it's simple , I like it .

In the few miles I've done today and at the PEC , I've enjoyed the really precise , rifle bolt short gear shift with a beautifully weighted clutch . The way the small alcantara clad steering wheel feels in your hands . The chasis is magnificent - the car is agile , precise and direct. Then there is the sense of occasion : the carbon buckets hugging you and presenting a perfect driving position , the sound of the engine is sublime - I prefer it without the PSE on , it's magnificent - I can't wait to hear what it sounds like when it's revving to the red line - I imagine not as real and frantic as a GT3/RS , but based on what I heard today , I think it's going to give them a run for their money. Then there's the bloody awful rev match gimmick in sports plus that I really , really want to hate - but I can't , it's a work of genius - don't get me wrong it has to be better to do this yourself , but if this isn't your thing then this is a pretty good second best !

It really is very nice indeed - as I say , I think we are going to be the best of friends. smile

I had the same experience with Marsh. I'd been quoted £450 for my £68k BGTS as sole driver, but when my good lady asked if she could be added, the quote dropped by £100... result! (No tracker required)

+1 - it always seems cheaper (whatever car) if SWMBO is added on.

aye tis a strange one as swmbo has 3 points on her licence for speeding so even declaring that it still reduced the premium. did the same when added her to my sons insurance policy. confused

No... but strangely if the invoice value of the car rose above £75K one would be required go figure that one out .
Some say if the car is a total write of in its first year they will pay out invoice value ... If lets say the car is worth more at that point and bearing in mind cannot be replaced they will not pay more than what you paid as you cannot profit from a accident fair comment .

To answer a previous post re CAP

I had Cap on my currant Spyder and again would only pay out on invoice value the difference between what the insurance companies value was at the time of any write off .I have never taken out GAP with any car I have bought in the past but was offered it by the OPC which I declined at £850 for 3 years I took it out with an independent company for £270 for 3 years just for peace of mind thankfully never needed it .
Its all about peace of mind at the end of the day and with the value of some Porsches going up at a silly rate just look at the GT cars.

not sure I have called the right number for Marsh ? guy I spoke to said he was from Porsche insurance no mention of Marsh when he introduced himself ? cover details seemed same as yours though 2 trackdays £430 excess . Porsche parts blah blah no tracker, £70k value mileage at 5k per year , 45 year old no previous motoring claims in 29 years but my quote came back at £1000 and thats giving me 2 years introductory discount redface

Website was a bit sketchy to get contact number so I called the Leeds office as they the most local to me but they put me through to another dept in London ? https://www.marsh.com/uk/contact-us/office-locator...

Sorry to bore you all about colour AGAIN. But having a nightmare deciding between Agate Grey & White. I know only I can decide. I look at Agate Grey & think yeah looks very smart & classy, especially with the platinum wheels; but will it look dull also? I noticed in all the Porsche publicity stuff for the Spyder they chose White. Both work for me. A local garage to me has an Agate Grey 981 Boxster S - will pop down to see if it impresses.
