Can anyone tell me the price of a decent tracker? One that insurance companies will recognise, and pref one with an app or similar whereas I can also track the car (is there such a thing??)
When I pick my car up in 3 weeks, it's something I am seriously considering getting done
I'll probably be using these guys www.tracker.co.uk well known & reputable. When I pick my car up in 3 weeks, it's something I am seriously considering getting done
I used these guys

About £220 to buy a battery powered tracker (so doesn't interfere with your warranty) and £120 per year subs.
Cheapest way I could find to please the insurance co.

tried Locktons (aston martin club insurer ? ?) but I couldnt get a quote online so called the number but office is shut .
on Confused , LV were the cheapest at £440 for me but require a tracker at level 5 fitting which doesnt sound cheap time you add that!
tried Admiral they insure with no tracker but they dont recognise 25 years no claims with motor trade policy so they doubled the quote !
anyone else got a sensible quote to insure with no tracker ?

I've just driven home in a Boxster S loan car with PDK. The speed and handling differential with the Spyder is absolutely vast, in fact the 'S' almost feels like a different car. I can't believe there is only 60 or so bhp between them!

thats a good quote, I will give them a call in the morning see what they come back with and report back , looks as though I will be doing this with no no claims as the 3 companies I have spoken with today do not recognise thick end of 30 years no claims held on a motor traders policy PS I am a senior so age helps in this quote.

Strangely I popped my Mrs onto a quote earlier (she will never drive it ) and that took another £80 off the quote from LV , that came down to £360 but Im sure they want to see a Tracker or they do for my trade policy as I have that with them.

Well , finally picked up the Spyder today.
Very early days < 100 miles on the clock , but I think that we are going to get on fine !
I have to say they are a clever lot - it's as if they've decided to engineer something that is simply perfect for anyone who genuinely loves the thrill of driving - I can't believe there is another car on the planet that is packed with as much good , clean , wholesome fun as the Spyder - it oozes it from every pore. It so reminds me of my old air cooled 911 - it is a proper car that you drive for drivings sake - it's simple , I like it .
In the few miles I've done today and at the PEC , I've enjoyed the really precise , rifle bolt short gear shift with a beautifully weighted clutch . The way the small alcantara clad steering wheel feels in your hands . The chasis is magnificent - the car is agile , precise and direct. Then there is the sense of occasion : the carbon buckets hugging you and presenting a perfect driving position , the sound of the engine is sublime - I prefer it without the PSE on , it's magnificent - I can't wait to hear what it sounds like when it's revving to the red line - I imagine not as real and frantic as a GT3/RS , but based on what I heard today , I think it's going to give them a run for their money. Then there's the bloody awful rev match gimmick in sports plus that I really , really want to hate - but I can't , it's a work of genius - don't get me wrong it has to be better to do this yourself , but if this isn't your thing then this is a pretty good second best !
It really is very nice indeed - as I say , I think we are going to be the best of friends.

I had the same experience with Marsh. I'd been quoted £450 for my £68k BGTS as sole driver, but when my good lady asked if she could be added, the quote dropped by £100... result! (No tracker required)Zeddsded_BGTS said:

+1 - it always seems cheaper (whatever car) if SWMBO is added on.bcr5784 said:

No... but strangely if the invoice value of the car rose above £75K one would be required go figure that one out .
Some say if the car is a total write of in its first year they will pay out invoice value ... If lets say the car is worth more at that point and bearing in mind cannot be replaced they will not pay more than what you paid as you cannot profit from a accident fair comment .
To answer a previous post re CAP
I had Cap on my currant Spyder and again would only pay out on invoice value the difference between what the insurance companies value was at the time of any write off .I have never taken out GAP with any car I have bought in the past but was offered it by the OPC which I declined at £850 for 3 years I took it out with an independent company for £270 for 3 years just for peace of mind thankfully never needed it .
Its all about peace of mind at the end of the day and with the value of some Porsches going up at a silly rate just look at the GT cars.

Sorry to bore you all about colour AGAIN. But having a nightmare deciding between Agate Grey & White. I know only I can decide. I look at Agate Grey & think yeah looks very smart & classy, especially with the platinum wheels; but will it look dull also? I noticed in all the Porsche publicity stuff for the Spyder they chose White. Both work for me. A local garage to me has an Agate Grey 981 Boxster S - will pop down to see if it impresses.
