Interesting to remember what Chris Harris said about the Spyder this time last year.

The market seems to be more "buoyant" now?

I know a great diet you could try wink.

Getting back to business, do you have your geo settings available? (Preferably before you start the diet).

Cheers
I am about to change them again.

For road I run zero front toe, -1.2 front neg camber and all oem rear.
This will suit 99% of road users.

I have done chalk tests and these setting give you max contact patch without any negative issues.

I am keeping my R at those settings as it's a 100% a road car and feels perfect and far better them oem.
The Spyder I am running r spec tyres and will be going for a more track based geo.
Front neg will be about -2 which is too much for the road imo .
I might set -1.8 and do a how fast day at Bedford with chalk test and go from there.

I also run 7mm front only spacers on both cars which offers better turn in again.

Thanks for that.

How does this before and after look to you?

Feels a bit frisky at the moment. Not sure if it's the geo or tyres.

Exactly. Good cars but as I've said before they're a Boxster with a silly roof and some nice suspension settings.
There are better lightweight cars and better Pork road cars.
What is a 964rs over a normal 964 ?
993 RS over a normal 993
996 gt3 RS over a 996gt3
I won't say 997rs over a 997 gt3 as it's not much bar bragging rights. ;-)

The cars are so good , Porsche don't really have to change much to make them awesome.

All these cars are a small market if you don't get any of them then yes they are not the right cars to own.

Porsche took more weight out of the Spyder than any of the uber cars I have lised above and brag about it be it 20kg or so.

Even with the 918 the lightweight pack for 40k is still only 1/2 the weight saving Porsche did on the Spyder over a Boxster .

It's only the owners choice to add all the weight back in which many did and say you cannot feel 50kgs, that's there choice.

Horses for course, I have had 2 lotus and a Noble both lightweight cars and I loved the feel over the weighty cars I have owned ESP on B roads and the responsiveness is also better.

as for me losing 10kgs lol I would be dead.

On normal roads a Spyder can keep with 400bhp cars no problem and is faster than my R to 90mph.

Above a ton yes you notice the cars only got 320bhp and a gt3 or 991 would make it look stupid. But below a ton on a B road the Spyders going to shock many a car and is in another league over a Elise.

Also once the PCCB are on a lightweight spec Spyder, the brakes are shocking awesome at slowing the car down.
The braking is more shocking than any car I have owned or ever been in.

No other car has brakes that big 350mm all round with 6 pots on a car weighing 1200kg.

I don't think I can name a car at any price with oem brakes which could out brake a Spyder from 120mph to zero.

The limits when owning a Spyder is going to always be the driver, I bottle out way before my Spyder says no thanks.
True that the PCCBs are awesome. but the 7.2RS on PCCBs stop even better. Prolly tyre related but that's another level up. Me thinks the 991 Gt3 is interesting simply because it has 918 spyder brakes.... without the regen.

I would say a SPyder can out brake a GT3 RS with PCCB, it's lighter and the front tyres are only 10mm different size (I think)

So stopping a car which is well over 100kg less weight is going to stop faster, with like for like tyres :-)

964 C2 1350kgs

964 RS 1220kgs

Unless I'm very much mistaken, that's a difference of 130kg
(or an additional 50kgs over and above that removed from the hallowed "lightweight" Boxster Spyder.....)

Check your facts before posting inaccurate propaganda.

P.S What would it take to get you started on that 10kg diet ? ;-)
ok so 130kg is huge , I did not think the 964 was so heavy in the 1st place :-) (i'll take your word for it) , but cars like the RS 996 over a 996 GT3 and the 997 RS are hardly any thing but Porsche love staing a 20kg weight saving, you get my point :-)

you forget, the engine hanging out back has an enormous advantage when it comes to braking (right where the 325s are)

Quite like that silver and beige colour combo. Adds another colour to the known options for door release strap colours! (who said anorak?). Wonder how it found its way here - and whether lhd adds a premium, reduction or no difference.
