At least your wife drives it
Mine refuses to get back into it
Too uncomfortable!!
True - but very rarely - the plan was it was going to be her car , but I've done 2000 miles in it - she's probably done 2 of them - Sandy , you're right it does mean I get to play when ever I like - but it's a risky game as she might end up swapping it for something st when I'm not looking - need to keep it close to me ......, Mine refuses to get back into it
Too uncomfortable!!

Wear isn't too bad, but at 6 years old I feel my current pilot sport 2 tyres are not at their best. Steering feels like it's lost a bit and rear grip seems quite edgy at times.
Michelin website still just recommends the PS2 as the only option on the spyder, even though other N types are available in the size.
I did read recently that getting the latest tyre may not necessarily be the best thing for an older car, supposedly developed to work with the older tyre. The setting may not suit the newer tyre. What's peoples thoughts on that?
Have any of you run different tyres on your Spyders?
Read good things about the Super sport and now the newer Pilot Sport 4.
I run non N spec cups 2's with -2 camber it turns mega and feels ultra sharp, I would fit Pilot SS though and go with -1.5 camber as that needs no new parts.Wear isn't too bad, but at 6 years old I feel my current pilot sport 2 tyres are not at their best. I ran a few sets of Pilot Super Sports and was surprised to find I preferred the PS2's when I went back to them. Faster they are not but feedback felt better and just felt right with a little less grip and little more movement. HTH
Prob going to do the same and go cup2. Had some camber dialed into the front and the car is just so fluid through the twistys. Can drive the car on the throttle far easier and brakes are rarely used. This is also on 5 year old PS2 down to work around 4mm.

I have N rated Pirelli P Zero's on my 987 Spyder as they were the tyre that was on the Spyder from new (although I have a new set of rears fitted in the last couple of years). The P Zero's do take a while to warm up but as the Spyder is only used for the nice days its not so much of an issue. However I read ages ago that the P Zero's don't last as long as other makes (like the Michelin's) as they have a slightly softer compound.Wear isn't too bad, but at 6 years old I feel my current pilot sport 2 tyres are not at their best. Sorry guys,
back to the Tracker/insurance thing.
Any views on an OPC one retro-fitted? (Ie not fitted from new).
Otherwise, is there only Tracker, or are there any other notable suppliers?
I'm running out of time to get one fitted, or find another insurer.
Thanks,
Tim
I have just been through this & going round in circles but had to make a decision as collecting mine on Saturday. My priority for insurance was to get a proper agreed market value & a repairer of my choice. On the various insurance comparison sites I plugged in a market value of 85K (my invoice total is just over 66K) - but with some some companies giving quotes of £220 fully comp I had my doubts that they would really pay invoice value let alone market value. So, after a few people on here suggested Marsh insurance (written by Aviva) I decided to go with them. Have an agreed market value of 85K for £480 (inc legal protection) but will have to fit a Cat 5 tracker which will have to be a Porsche one (cobra tracker) so not to invalidate the Porsche warranty. It really does erk me that I had to go down the Porsche tracker route as it's 'kin expensive but getting a decent insurance policy was my priority. The Marsh policy does seem pretty good. Hiscox quoted me £1250!back to the Tracker/insurance thing.

Just insured mine today for collection end of the week No tracker and can be repaired at any Porsche Approved £623 London postal code is the killer I am told Classicline Insurance
My previous policy on last Spyder was with Locktons and they wanted £580 odd plus must have tracker fitted so in view of all that more than happy to pay a bit extra and by pass the tracker and membership fees

There's a cracking thread on upgrading the Spyder on Rennlist - power kits, Gt4 upgrades and this:
