So how does it compare to the 964?

If you want a bucket, I'd put the one in on the driver's side. The purposeful look of a driver's only bucket might appeal. At the end of the day it's your car for you to drive. Don't sell the sports seats. Originality is key to value and aftermarket buckets will seriously limit the market.

I was at Goodwood Breakfast club the Sunday before last and I am sure one of the other Spyders had a bucket seat on the drivers side and then a standard seat on the other. To me it looked very odd but hey its your car and if it works go for it.

OK, I've decided.....I'm going to get a single genuine Porsche bucket seat. I can put the sport seat back in when I sell the car and then flog the bucket seat separately. Thanks for your opinions guys.

Absolutely loving the car wink

If you're going for a single more track oriented seat then why not go the whole hog and forget about the Porsche bucket option. It'll look more obviously different and I'd guess much less expensive.

Something like a Recaro Pole Position.

edit...oops, i see this option (or a similar one), has already been covered.

It's also my everyday car as well though, so I want something reasonably comfy. The Porsche bucket seats seem to be a good compromise of comfort and support even if they are stupidly expensive (hopefully I'll be able to recoup a decent proportion of the cost when I come to sell it). I also like the idea of getting the OEM ones and they do look really nice.

Agreed, the carbon buckets are lovely and I found them very comfortable in both my old Spyder's. Not sure how easy it might be to sell a single seat though?

The motorsport seats aren't uncomfortable. The Pole Position looks very similar to the CS seat I have in my 996 GT2. Quite comfy smile

Car looks cool.

996 CS seats are based on the Recaro Pole Position

Well I finally made my decision and will buy a Spyder as my next weekend car.

If anybody knows of a LHD example that is for sale please let me know via private message.

Preferred spec: Carrara white, manual, silver/grey Boxster Spyder wheels, xenon, bucket seats, PSE, A/C, extended leather, alcantara package.
Would prefer no radio over PCM over CD-30.

(yes, I’ll never find a car with that exact spec but let me dream wink)

hello, i'm looking to buy a 987 boxster spyder: manual, low milage, original wheels, left hand drive and please no red interior. there seem to be very few cars available at the moment... only one "clocked" pdk car in italy for 70000€ and one pdk for 64000€ in belgium.
do you think the 981 spyder will bring cars to the market or is it a bad time in the year to buy?

Hi, good luck with the search. You ask if the 981 Spyder will bring more cars to the market? That's an interesting question. I've got a deposit on a new one, but I'm doing everything I can to keep the old one, and if that was not possible, I'm thinking I would keep the old one as a priority. There's a good article in EVO magazine this month - the analogue feel of the 987 seems to be the thing which will keep people in the older cars. Also, I'm just not sure that there will be many 981 Spyders available (if the GT4 is anything to go by). Keep up the search - you won' regret it when you get one.

Dont suppose any UK members have modded their Spyder and would like to share pics??

im guessing not many have done work to these but if you have id love to see pics as i feel this car with some minor tweaks is about as desirable as they come, imo much more so than the Cayman R. Their is nothing like a properly focused and honed, from scratch designed roadster.
