"If" that car was ordered just to be flipped for a fast buck whoever didn't tick the essential option boxes air con & radio f.o.c. too slipped up badly on this odd ball Spyder which I personally see at 15% + below original list eek

Isn't the idea behind the Spyder that it's the lightness that adds to the enjoyment?

With an engine note that good, who needs a radio? I've never used mine!

That's the marketing hype and hype is exactly what it is

If the Spyder was all about lightness it should have followed along the lines of my 89 Speedster - No Central Locking: No Electric Windows: Thinner Glass:

The only lightness thing they seem to have in common is the manually folding unlined roofs laugh

981 Spyder doesn't even have the stripped down lighter door cards that the 987 has and whist I agree with your radio comment I ordered the DAB upgrade for the future owner(s) who may want it more than the PSE sound track. Why they would I have no idea but just in case they do they can with my Spyder spec

I never use the air con but still ticked the box for future owner(s) but then again I never use the roof either lick

Spec is a very personal thing and someone must have wanted it to order it like that but for resale It has a lot against it and its not as if a Spyder buyer doesnt have a choice, I personally do not think that colour is the best for a Spyder I like them in bright colours and as much as I love the classic trim it just doesn't seem to go with silver .

Classic trim goes best with silver !

As for AC, radio etc Porsche make a nice GTS where you get a working roof also.

Seems like buyers missed the point like they did on the 987 spyder also.

I still don't get the 981 spyder buyer to be honest as a 2nd cor 3rd car in the fleet you would think driving came 1st.
But you see people saying, never used AC never used radio but I bought them for the next owner, it,s a bit lame to spec a brand new car for the next owne lol

Says the man who ordered 918 style seats in his gt4 when he knows the folding buckets are more comfortable!;)

Yep...as said before imo the 918 Spyder seats are an example of style over substance as they look fantastic especially with the carbon package but are less comfortable than the older GT2 buckets and at £1k more as a Spyder option they were too expensive too. Essential in the more hardcore GT4 though and a no brainer too at only c £400 over the GT2s.

Regarding the aircon, anyone using the Spyder through the winter will doubtless regret not speccing this essential option when condensation is a problem.....afflicts all Porsches and cabs are the worst.

The 918 style buckets are a huge downgrade in terms of comfort. In the few long runs I had in my GT4 they gave me severe shoulder and neck ache. The sport (folding) buckets in mt GTS and Spyder are infinitely more comfortable and I think better looking. Unfortunately you were tied into them when ordering CS pack on the GT4.

Plus on the Spyder I can have a warm bottom too!

Demon quote just the other day:

"the older folder buckets are better seats sadly.

918 style suit the GT4 more though and as ever for resale 918 buckets are a winner."

Just saying biggrinrolleyes

Spyder weight is so close to the normal car it's not going to make much difference. The brilliance of "Porsche marketing" is to get punters queuing up to throw such big cash at these fundamentally similar cars.

Been out in both the 987 and the 981 this weekend. Having had the 981 for 8 months now, I love it. However, having been out in the 987 today, I think it's tops the 981 as a pure driving experience. If the 987 sounded as good as the 981, for me it would be game over for the 981. Is there any way you can make the 987 sound better? I've got the PSE but seems just too quiet.

Sounds like you will need to fit an aftermarket exhaust such as

You must have heard mine by now ! It sounds mega in every way.

Ps listen to no one (well bar me) :-) , buy a manifold and keep the pse. You will also gain 981 beating performance.

I presume you mean a manifold?

And regarding '981 beating performance', where do you get your information and figures from to back up your silly talk?

Better to have one accurate post in 90 days, than 10s of dull posts full of misery.
