Boxster Spyder
Discussion
Has anyone renewed the tyres of their Spyder yet? Sorry if it has been posted earlier, I did a trawl through and found nothing.
I've tracked mine and its coming up for 4k miles. After the next track day, plus a trip to Europe next month, the current Pirellis will need to be replaced. I was thinking of Michelins but would be interested if anyone else has put new rubber on and if so what and are they happy with the tyres

i gather this is a relativley cheap part to replace?
it's out of sight , but not out of mind!
I did the same on my GT4,all i did was rub it with a strip of sandpaper until its smooth.Came up as good as new.i gather this is a relativley cheap part to replace?

I too caught the front black plastic lip and did as above, infact it it's quiet rough / not well finished along the edge in the first place so now better than newwellzee said:
Well I have just (finally) taken the plunge. Deposit paid with collection from OPC on Friday. Crossing fingers for some weekend sun - cannot wait! Thank you to everyone who helped out with advice.
Congrats I'm confident you wont be disappointed. Five thousand miles already, in four and half months, including a trip to France...Que excuse for a photo.

My 981 Spyder arrived with scrapes on the underside of the spoiler did not notice till a few days after the car was delivered .
The black plastic lip spoiler is not fitted until it arrives at the dealers!Seems daft as a splitter is easier to replace that a painted front end should it get scraped .

Here is the first picture I could find of how they arrive! Note the black plastic splitter is missing for fitting after delivery!Seems daft as a splitter is easier to replace that a painted front end should it get scraped .

I am pretty sure I already called you earlier in the thread for posting pornography! That is stunning, if I could've got hold of a PTS Spyder I would've definitely taken it. Nonetheless I'm happy with the tried and tested white metallic with satin black wheels (same as my current CGTS) and cannot wait to finally be a spyder owner. Cue frantic Euro trip planning....Que excuse for a photo.

Now I remember! That would be why I already have a reduced quality version this picture! You could do worse that the Somme battlefields and/or the Landing beaches, for your trip. Not a 'joyous' holiday but cultural, fascinating and some great driving. I can point you in the direction of the campsite (chateaus) in the picture
