Yes its the Rhodium Silver one from Leeds, did you take a look at it? I remember a Silver/Grey Spyder being driven when I was doing my test drives, was that yours, about a month ago.
I didnt in the end as the p/x on my 997 GTS wasnt good enough but i was close to a deposit on it. In the end I got a better relative deal on my Spyder which is a white one. Very interested in what next Spyder and GT4 are, engine-wise. I can't see how, especially in the Spyder's case, with it not being a GT, they could market it as the best car in the 718 range without giving it a turbo. The GT4 perhaps more likely to be NA?
Also, that AutoExpress article suggests six cylinders but doesn't seem to say anything about aspiration. I guess they could just use the 911.2 S engine as they have with this generation of Spyder and GT4, so 6-pot turbo.

A turbo 6 doesn't fit in the 981 chassis.
I can't see Porsche giving either next gen car a NA 6. I think it'll be turbo 4 all the way - mostly because of performance differential to the upcoming GTS versions. If Porsche do want to go NA for either car it will have to be a significantly more potent NA engine to outdrag the torque of the turbo 4. I don't think there will be one available by then and I can't see a full GT engine being put into either car.

I hope for the sake of future enthusiasts you guys are wrong, but what you're saying makes sense. I too just don't see how the 'best' car could have a different sort of aspiration from the rest of the range (though they seem to be doing it with the 911 GT3, the next one of which will surely be NA, no?)
I still refer back to Andreas's quote in the Auto Express article. He hinted strongly that for the next GT4 he would want to stick with a NA flat six engine. As someone here pointed out that will be a challenge with whatever the power output for the turbo GTS version will be. However Andreas P also said it's not all about outright power but a different driving pleasure for the GT4. That hints to me that turbo 4 pot GTS will only be a few horses less than the GT4. But who really knows what's going to happen wrt these halo cars.
I'm away on holiday at the moment so no pics yet, but in the driving I got to do before I left - wow. I'll be honest I wasn't 100% convinced when I took the plunge that I could justify the cost, the soft-top (never owned a convertible) or paying overs for the Spyder, but now I'm happy I did. The sound of that 3.8 has had me grinning from ear to ear since the first time I got in it. I also was a massive PDK advocate before and was really miffed when the GT4 came out and PDK wasn't an option - but now I completely get it. This car needs you changing the gears to truly appreciate the drive and immerse you in it. I'm completely smitten and am actually desperate to get home so I can drive it again! Pics to follow when I do, and thanks for the advice to push me into buying one - I'm so glad I did.

congrats; the 3.8 is great; sound, performance, torque, lovelywdpor said:
I thinks there are speakers there but no option for the fader in the sound configuration. I will speak to Glasgow OPC tomorrow and let you know the outcome.
This was posted some time ago 4th March. I cant find a follow up.Did anyone else spec option 490 Sound Package plus?
Did yours work OK?

Although the description in the configurator at the time stated that there were 7 speakers etc.. It was confirmed that this was a mistake. Did anyone else spec option 490 Sound Package plus?

I have sound package plus but no PCM in my 981 Spyder. Does anyone know if I can retrofit DAB radio?
If your spec included CDR Plus including sound package plus then you will have a digital radio. See enclosed Gassing Station | Boxster/Cayman | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
