Congratulations! Great aren't they!
Be great to hear a comparison with the Cayman GTS.
Comparison to a GTS: the Spyder has lighter steering bizarrely, even though the steering wheel is actually smaller... you can also tell the difference in the steering feel. The GTS steering never wriggled in your hands, but in the spyder the steering just wiggles to give you a little more communication about whats happening. You can also definitely feel the difference in power, something that I didnt really expect. The engine also sounds deeper, especially from low down. Both amazing cars, but if the spyder gets a 10/10, then the GTS gets 9/10... almost as great! there is also something more special about the spyder.... it might be something to do with the tent over your head providing no sound insulation to the outside world, but there is something about it... Really really over the moon with the car!Be great to hear a comparison with the Cayman GTS.

Really nice car! Interesting to hear that, if you had a Boxster GTS Manual would you have still upgraded?
interesting proposition.... probably, yes. Its a closer comparison as both can take their roof off, but all the things that make the spyder just slightly better than the CGTS still applies to the BGTS. Also, styling comes into as well... I love the way the spyder looks. and i love the stupid roof - i do not use the spyder day to day, so I can live with its shortcomings. If this was my daily, I would have stuck with the cayman/boxster.Just back from a Silverstone track day in damp / wet conditions and the Spyder has been a delight, balanced and communicative and very quick. For once I haven't had to change the rear pads as I suspect the PTV triggers less on faster sweeping circuits. Amazing traction in the conditions, quicker than a GTR post apex, but still quite lively if provoked. Pulling 135 down hangar, in comparison to my old 991 GT3 at 150 in the dry.
In conclusion the car is even better when it rains than in the dry!

So, after owning the spyder for over a week now, I have noticed another major thing that is different from the CGTS, and so I guess the BGTS as well.
It was raining today (surprise surprise) but I still took the spyder around for a spin. About 2 minutes after pressing the sport plus button, steam started pouring out of the front grill (the one that is in front of the bonnet that doesnt exist on the normal boxsters/caymans). All the temps of the car where normal, and there were no warning signs/noises. The only thing I can think of is that rain was running into the front grill (this happened as I was in traffic so the rain just runs straight down the bonnet, and not when moving) and then evaporating off the radiator, hence the steam.
Has anyone else had this as well, or is there something seriously wrong?!

Noting wrong. I can't quite remember the details but it is something about water, which has run in through the top grill, evaporating off the third radiator. It it's been discussed before, um? Maybe even on this thread or take a look in some of the GT4 ones.It was raining today (surprise surprise) but I still took the spyder around for a spin. .... Would have been better if I'd read ALL of your post and then just said 'Yes its water run off'

Perfectly normal, afflicts the 991GT3 and GT4 too. The pressing of the sport button activates 3rd front rad confirmed by dropping of normal oil and water temp confirmed on instruments. As water runs down front of the car and hits this radiator this produces steam.....quite hilarious moving in slow traffic the number of people pointing to the front of the car.....embarrassing too!Has anyone else had this as well, or is there something seriously wrong?!

thanks for the replies... at least I can sleep easier now! and yes, the number of people pointing at a steaming car is rather embarrassing.... oh well!
Happened to me when I drove away from the dealer on collection day! It was a dry day, but it turns out the dealer had just washed it (to install the swirl makes of course!), so the heat of sitting in London traffic quickly boiled off the remaining water...JeffC said:
Put my spyder up for sale today in the classifieds . Sad day
And also learned today that you cannot link to a classified ad on this thread as my earlier post was removed ,must be different rules for owning a gt4 as there is dozens on that thread
Shame you are selling. If you are referring to my OPC table of GT4's for sale, maybe the links are allowed because the cars are not owned by myself. If PH seek issue with it, then I'll remove the links, no worries. Best of luck with your sale. And also learned today that you cannot link to a classified ad on this thread as my earlier post was removed ,must be different rules for owning a gt4 as there is dozens on that thread
Cheers ideal world wouldn't sell but needs must .
Was quite surprised it got pulled as I had paid to advertise on piston heads can only assume Must be against rules to link your own car as in the gt4 thread there is loads of links to cars for sale advertised and most are not on piston heads .

Are you the 2nd owner ?
I bought the car at 3 months old but signed the yellow section of the log book over to trade (same as you would part exchanging it to OPC) so the car is still 0 previous keepers, the next owner will register the car in their name and will then show as the 2nd keeper.coyft said:
Thinking of getting one of these for road trips to The Alps and hooning around the Suffolk countryside.
Does anyone know how many came into the country? Only seems to be a handful for sale and I'm not a fan of white, which restricts the choice somewhat.
Around 200 cars to the Uk has been mentioned , see above if your looking for a good one mine is now on sale Does anyone know how many came into the country? Only seems to be a handful for sale and I'm not a fan of white, which restricts the choice somewhat.
