taken the spyder out for a few mundane journeys over the xmas period when everything was damp and cold, and I have to say the spyder is substantially more loose than a CGTS. You had to provoke the cayman even in wet conditions for things to start getting out of shape, but in the spyder, even pulling out of junctions gingerly seems to invite spinning in the rear! not sure how others have found traction in the wet. In the dry, everything is spot on though.

Cold Pirelli summer tyres syndrome. Try it in warmer climes and it hooks up fine

If of interest to anyone before I do anything with it it, I have the number plate on retention document from my Spyder, with a property purchase on the cards I am unlikely to be in the position to own another and reckon it will look seriously out of place on my 2007 Toyota Yaris diesel run about !

Blimey you must have foot to the floor pulling out of junctions smile Glad you are enjoying the Spyder. Mine is a daily drive (only 10 mile round trip to work & back, but enough to just get oil up to temp). So she has been driven in very wet conditions & mild frosts without any issues whatsoever. Consider myself lucky to drive it every day.

not at all! I am not a fan of being a hooligan in town... interesting that you seem to have no issues. Maybe my feet are just not delicate enough. knew I should have taken up ballet when I was younger!:P

Oil warning light came on today after my 200 mad dash to Cambridge and back
Now realise that the oil filler is in the rear boot
Might just have to let the roof down !
In the snow maybe ...
Have used the Spyder for the last two months. Great fun
Today it was 200 miles
Sportplus on
Burmeister cranked up
The noise !!!

A picture of mine on a trip to Norfolk just after I got it,two months into ownership now and sportplus is a must just wish it defaulted to that rather than having to mess with a button really enjoying the manual change as I was a little worried about that having had a PDK for two years did manage to stall it a few times in the first couple of weeks

Mine's been tucked up last two months, last drove it for an hour on Boxing Day.
However if it snows I might have to get it out for some photos as I keep dreaming of Fashion Grey set against snow..

Here's the new red Spark 1.43 scale model Spyder that I have just recieved.
Same type / spec as the Ltd model Porsche released last year.

Went up to SIlverstone this week to do the porsche experience drive day thing. Went up from the night before and woke up to find the car looking like this:

I can safely say the drive to silverstone was some of the diciest I have ever done! Anyway, arrived at silverstone to find it like this:

So, event cancelled basically, and I will be rescheduled to go back again. One good thing is that I got to see the car looking particularly dirty, and she looks ace!

Love that arse...

Agreed, that's one nice rear.....
Hope you get to go back to Silverstone soon.

Having owned classics (i.e. rust buckets) for many years, I must confess to being paranoid about driving my Spyder in this winter weather.... I really must get over myself....

Right, that's it, it's coming to work with me in the morning biggrin

Given it a good wash yesterday to get the worst of the grit off. Hope you enjoyed the drive to work!

its not the rust that would concern me its the stone chips, 2 years ago after being parked up since November in the Feb I decided that I would use my previous 981that was immaculate at the time, I did around 1500 miles in the car but first time I polished it in spring I was horrified , the front bumper sills leading edge of the rear bumper looked as though they had been shot blasted , bonnet had a hand full of nasty chips too, had I kept that car I would have to have had it painted it looked that bad frown I have never known any other car with paint as poor for chipping, it was for that reason that I got PPF fitted to my Spyder , however I still couldnt bring myself to use it though once the salt came.

Yes the roads are littered with gravel at the moment, I did curb my enthusiasm yesterday, but was glad to get her out of the shed !
Like you I also have PPF'd the bumpers, sills etc. Plus had a Gteqnic coating. So far, so good, no noticeable chips or paint swirls, and over 8k travelled.
Time for some serious rain and a rise in temps.
Be good to get that roof off again soon.

Peppering the front with stone chips comes from driving too close to the vehicle in front. Had to get my new year-old Cayman GTS sorted when I got it. Never had the problem in my S which I had from new.

Hang well back. It's safer anyway.

Good point. A well know indy I have used have to paint nearly all Porsche front bumpers they get in for re-sale. Have used my 981 Spyder daily since new from June 2016. No issues at all. Have Gtechniq applied but no PPF. Had my previous 997 for two years & like all my Porsche's it was a daily drive & again no issues with stone chips. Think you are right..

sadly that doesnt help the sills or rear bumper, mine was to the point where there was no paint left on it on the leading edges, I am pretty sure the day it did it was a wet day after the roads had been gritted and it just blasted it off, I always leave loads of room to the car in front I have learned the hard way in the past but my 981 was still pretty peppered frown

If all cars were fitted with mud flaps that would likely help or something prettier to deflect road chippings.
