Good point. A well know indy I have used have to paint nearly all Porsche front bumpers they get in for re-sale. Have used my 981 Spyder daily since new from June 2016. No issues at all. Have Gtechniq applied but no PPF. Had my previous 997 for two years & like all my Porsche's it was a daily drive & again no issues with stone chips. Think you are right..
All cars that get used on motorway or taken to track will get stone chips if they don't have PPF installed. If you never get on a motorway and stay at low speeds the chance to get them is a lot less of course, but you will still get them. If the chips don't bother you, then there's no need to put PPF.

sadly that doesnt help the sills or rear bumper, mine was to the point where there was no paint left on it on the leading edges, I am pretty sure the day it did it was a wet day after the roads had been gritted and it just blasted it off, I always leave loads of room to the car in front I have learned the hard way in the past but my 981 was still pretty peppered frown

If all cars were fitted with mud flaps that would likely help or something prettier to deflect road chippings.
Older cars had proper layers of paint and stone-chip protections and what not, so they didn't chip that easy. Now they use very thin layer of paint, that is very soft and if it doesn't get covered with something it will get battered. Mudflaps would probably help!

About to sell my CR. Do fancy a Boxster Spyder next - will £75k secure a reasonable spec?

check the classifieds, but you will struggle at 75k. Lowest are around 80k, so even with some discounts you are looking at 77/78k minimum. Look at specs closely - if you plan on using the spyder regularly, definitely get one with the reversing camera, as there are no parking sensors on the spyder and rear visibility is basically non existent.

Can retrofit one that works perfectly with PCM and is no more intrusive than the OEM one for less money; so wouldn't write a car off on lack of camera. I do think one is necessary though. I found my perfect spec w/o camera so took the plunge and retrofitted - no complaints.

The two options I'am glad I ticked are heated seats (as mine is a daily) & PDLS.

Would like to retrofit camera Any recommendations for good installer Essex area?
I have PCM ,totally agree rear camera would have been ticked if new but as I had to take a flipped car got best spec available for my 50th

Give Greg a call at Auto Audio and say Rehan recommended you. They do a lot of OPC work so may be able to quote you happy.

Lol. I don't think it was an option but I didn't go for the reversing camera on your Voodoo Spyder because it required Sound package Plus I think. I would've gotten AA to install camera if I needed it, but I thought it would be better for me to stop being a girly man and learn how to park... Afterall it's easier to park then something like a Murcielago!

Hi Jon, I'm also in Cardiff, where did you get this fitted out of interest?

Sad to say I have no experience of the latter, but yeah the Spyder's fine. Thought I'd need to get sensors installed but haven't bothered in the end. We all used to be able to not reverse into solid objects didn't we?

Hi mate, I got it done at B&B Audio Concepts, literally just around the corner from Porsche Cardiff. OPC recommended them and they did a good job.

Had mine into the OPC for an early minor service today.
After 8.3k of assorted miles, good to see my brakes are still in good shape.
Will need to replace the rear boots in the next 1k or so but fronts still good.

Roll on the spring !!!
