Maybe pushing the price a bit... But not complaining if it is heading that way.

Only 5 Spyder 981s for sale on pistonheads and circa 40 GT4s with the cheapest at £85k - given the rarity of the Spyder and the fact that they are just as quick on track they must be the biggest bargain in the current Porsche line up.

Completely agree.
Especially as there is so much talk about the sound these cars make...
If you want to hear the engine/exhaust note, best idea is to take the roof off !!
Total bargain.

I've just recently bought one, great little car. Steering feel is non existent though, which in my mind stops it from being a truly great car.
I can partially i.d. with this statement especially as my daily driver JCW has more feel, more weight and a much nicer thicker steering wheel rimeek
but IMO still a truly great car with a fantastic soundtrack to match its looks

Sound track is good for a Porsche, but there are plenty of cars that sound just as good if not better.

The big disappointment for me is the steering.
Sounds like another one will be up for sale ! The 987Spyder I have has more feel to it than the 981 I have to say .... more connected .I would say also the tyres make a difference to the feel Michelin V Pirelli ..go try a 987

987.2 Spyder is the car you are looking for and £30k cheaper. Or an Elise.

Is that a Gen 2 mini vs a 981 Spyder? If the steering on the Mini is better than the Boxster, the Boxster must be pretty poor. I think the steering on a Gen 2 Mini is its weak point. It's miles behind a Gen 1 Mini for feel.

The steering in the gen 1 Spyder is very good - have you driven one Coyft as a comparison?

I have a 964 c2, 360 spider and 981 spyder. The steering on the 981 is good in my opinion. It is is light, however, so if you like heavy steering then it may annoy.

The 964 has the probably the best steering of the 3 cars, but they are all exciting in their own ways. The 964's steering is certainly the heaviest, despite being powered.

That is a current Mini JCW - The steering is weightier and the steering wheel rim thickness greater but overall actual feel is still better on the 981 Spyder

My previous Mini had more feel YES My previous 987 Spyder(s) had more feel and weight to them than the far too light IMO 981 Spyder

But both the latest versions in all other areas are far superior especially on performance, sound and most important ride comfort on our fabulous uneven pot holed roads certainly no longer fit for purpose in 21st century

I agree with Coyft, that steering maketh the car. The latest gen mini just feels artificial to me.

Early morning drive to Soho Farmhouse this morning, my Fashion Grey Spyder and mate in his white Spyder. Left London at 7am and enjoyed roads up there. Pulled in to car park and lo and behold a black one there too. Although it had comfort seats so didn't really count.

Just got some 17" TD pro race 1.2 and Michelin super sports on the mini f56 jcw. Night and day on the steering feel. You can feel the tarmac and ripples etc. Not as good as the 987.2 but a lot better than before. Plus you can just throw it into a bend knowing it will stick.

For me it's not a question of whether it sticks or not, it's how satisfying the steering is to use. And the new Mini is just too much of an electric feel for me. Probably better than its BMW equivalent, but still not what I'd call good.
