Sound track is good for a Porsche, but there are plenty of cars that sound just as good if not better.

The big disappointment for me is the steering.
At least the smaller steering wheel / rack is more positive for turn in - which gives an edge over the GT4 - IMO.

Have you driven a GT4 ?, it had the best EPS to date, wider section front tyres, more front track, also what steering wheel do you think it has ?

The Spyder actually sounds better than both the GT4 and 991 GT3.

As previously posted, the 981 Spyder steering is not far behind the GT4s and this is largely down to the Pirellis v GT4 cup tyres and the GT3 front suspension.

Isn't it the one off the tractor I saw in OPC Leicester a month or so back?

If you are 18 I guess lol

Better is subjective, I really hate all these modern over fueled sounds, the GTS being the worse of the bunch with Porkers, but Jag and others are all doing it now, it's a bit too fake for me and worse still all the super car boys are fitting LOUD systems to their cars now with bigger and bigger over run !!!

It's not a good trend, and meets are ruined by knob heads in all these cars reving the nuts off them.

The GT4 and GT3 is an honest sound, and far nicer imo, but it's all personal, the trend is over run and if you like that then you like it I guess.

People seem to like what was done on Saxo's and Nova's by 18 year olds 20 years ago, but it's now come to super cars !!! Lambo boys seem to be the worst of the bunch.

It's not a good thing,

A BMW this is a prime dire example of how to ruin your car.

I think you have a point. I'm not sure about the continuous, obvious crackles on the overrun on just about every modern sports car now. I think there should be a button where you can get rid of the overrun noises but keep the exhaust sound loud.

I'm waiting for a set-up that would make my Cayman sound like, say, a 3.2 Carrera or even a base 997 - both of which sounded much more interesting.

With David on this.

If all Spyders sound like the yellow one that came through my village the other day then God help us...

A two mile B road between my village and the next, lovely bends, cambers etc, that I can take in my van at more than the NSL and all I could hear was 'brrrmmmmm....pop pop crackle crackle......brmmmm...pop pop crackle crackle etc etc.

Lifting off at every bend clearly, and just telling his passenger 'listen to this..'

Then he turned around and came back doing it again.
My dog wasn't impressed.

Pleasantly surprised to have 1% of the UK 987 Spyders reunited at work this morning smile Funny that both number plates end the same - wa wa...

It's even worse on the 718, pressing the sport button defeats the anti lag system. A triumph of "cool over sense!

Was in the welsh hills over the weekend in the GTS and preferred the noise the 991 GT3. If your absolutely on it you don't really hear many crackles and pops, its almost you can make them happen if you want, but rev it out and up shift or down shift and back on it you dont really get any. Again noise with anything else is subjective, it think the Spyder sounds even better.

The Boxster GTS is a fantastic car but one of the things that was fun at the start of ownership was the exhaust sound.

After nearly three years of ownership I stopped using the sport/sport plus buttons because the exhaust was just to much in your face.

Now have a Macan turbo with sports exhaust and there are no fake sounds, much better.

hi,

i cleaned my spyder yesterday , and noticed some of the holes in the disks have become blocked. its is only a few , either the ones nearest the hub and furthest away from the hub.
should all the holes be clear?

thanks.

Porsche will charge you £hundreds to clear these when you can achieve the same with a blast of water.

I had my Spyder in for service a few weeks ago and the OPC told me that the disc holes were blocked - and that they would clear them for me for £174. I declined their kind offer and did it myself using an old drill bit. Took about 5 minutes per wheel. (Wheels off of course !!)

thanks,
seems like a common issue. is it not covered as the car is under warrantly still?

It is brake dust. Anything related to wear and tear is never covered by a warranty.
