Was just thinking how much better it looks compared to the old model.

Black with platinum wheels could well be a good call.......

Hear Hear and in the flesh is the only way of concluding exactly how good bad or ugly any car iscool

Hi guys,

Long time lurker. Reading the informative posts here helped make up my mind: I decided to go for a Spyder. Deposit in, and assured(!) I'll get a car.

A preface: I know this post is long, but I wondered if there had been any new information/rumours on the following:

1. Is Park Assist available?
£446 is a lot for a reversing camera, although probably a necessity for me due to poor rear visibility.

2. Has anyone had any finance quotes?
I was told they work out the finance based on the residual value, which is informed by how quickly they sell initially. I am sceptical, but would be thankful for any insight and indication of rates. Porsche finance does not appear to be particularly competitive (10% apr, at least in the showroom).

3. Has there been any final indication of build numbers for the UK?
Some rumour suggest 80, some 150, and some unlimited. I assume this would have an impact on residuals, and hence monthly payments for a PCP. (see above)

4. Will any other paint choices become available soon?
Would have chosen Carmine Red in a shot, or paint to sample. Guards is too orange for me, so it's probably Carrara white (!)

5. Am I correct in thinking that "Audio system CDR Plus incl. Sound Package Plus" includes DAB, and that PCM does not?
If that's the case, PCM seems rather expensive if you want a DAB radio.

6. What is the lead time - from locking the order to receiving the physical car?

7. When will the first cars arrive?

8. Has anyone been invited for a driving experience yet?

Lots of questions, I know! I would be very grateful for any insight into the above. Despite trawling lots of posts etc, I cannot find any definitive answers to the above.

I look forward to hearing from you all soon. Thanks.

P.S. Shouts to Daro911, PorscheGT4, Zyp and rob.kellock for their particularly informative posts for a newb!

1. Is Park Assist available? NOT AN OPTION WHEN I ASKED WHY THE ANSWER WAS GT PU's MEANS NO PARK ASSIST WILL EVER BE OFFERED ONLY SILENT CAMERAeek

3. Has there been any final indication of build numbers for the UK? NONE WHAT SO EVER

4. Will any other paint choices become available soon? I HAVE REQUESTED CTS AND BEEN TOLD CURRENTLY NOT AN OPTION AND VERY DOUBTFUL IT WILL BE OFFERED ON A LIMITED PRODUCTION RUN MODEL

5. Am I correct in thinking that "Audio system CDR Plus incl. Sound Package Plus" includes DAB, and that PCM does not? If that's the case, PCM seems rather expensive if you want a DAB radio.
DAB IS ANOTHER OPTION CIRCA £350 ON TOP OF THE PCM/CDR. LIKE MOBILE PHONE CONNECTIVITY IN THE 21ST CENTURY THIS IS A COMPLETE JOKE

6. What is the lead time - from locking the order to receiving the physical car? LEAD TIME IS FROM "BUILD MONTH" TO DELIVERY CIRCA 2-4 WEEKS USUALLY

7. When will the first cars arrive? JULY/AUGUST

8. Has anyone been invited for a driving experience yet? INVITES YET TO BE SENT OUT TO ALL DEPOSITORS GETTING A CAR EVENTUALLY

P.S. Shouts to Daro911, PorscheGT4, Zyp and rob.kellock for their particularly informative posts for a newb!

It would appear DAB is part of the CDR/Sound package plus from the online configurator descriptions.

But is it not part of the more expensive PCM though, which i think you have to tick the digital tv option to also include digital radio.

You are correct it is part of the CDR/Sound Package plus but if you tick PCM you then have to add back DAB Radio circa £324 on top of the PCM rip off price furious

It's not though !

It's an aggressive looking car now. wide mough, and all these crease lines on the body work which I have never liked since day 1 of the 981 Cayman and Boxster.

I do like the front 3/4 view so not knocking it, looks meaningful , but imo it's not a pretty car.

the 987.2 is a pretty car. I guess that's either a good thing or a bad thing depending what you are after.

I made a little python script that scrapes prices for car I'm interested in from mobile.de/autoscout and calculates/stores the average price and some other data. I know value discussions are frowned upon but maybe somebody finds it interesting. tongue out

Blue is the 987 Spyder, red the Cayman R, prices in Euro. Sorry for the shoddy graph, I just used the Excel defaults.

The average milage of the Spyders listed in February was 21300 km and is now 32500 km, the average Cayman Rs listed is always around 32000 km.

We'll see what happens in autumn when the cabrio season is over and owners are taking deliveries of their new Spyders.

Just thought I would join the thread.

Speccing my new Spyder tomorrow. It will be my seventh Porsche and second Spyder.

I do think the 987 version looked prettier, but the 981 looks more purposeful.

Going with White, with black leather/alcantara and silver stitching.

As a prospective 987 spyder owner enjoyed trawling through that lot !

I actually just posted a seperate thread but I'm particularly interested in knowing ;

- how water right the hood is (mine would have to stay outside)
- is sort plus really with holding out for with pdk (I know the manual is the preferred choose but really fancy trying a pdk as I've been in a manual 997 for two years and the missus might use it a bit then !)

Finally please let me know if you are thinking of selling - cash waiting as just sold my lovely old 997 back to tom at 911V. Im open minded but buckets, PSE and spyder wheels are a must and don't think I can bear (cleaning) another black car !

Cheers
Nat
