I removed the intake baffle kit yesterday, I left the snorkle in place as it seems silly to remove that as that is ensure the car pulls the air from the vent where the air is colder.
I have put a mesh over the intake vent to prevent anything from entering.
I would say the engine now seems louder, more induction noise, maybe throttle is a touch crisper but could be placebo, it seems no worse off for it however.
I manage to get everything removed and all clips survived, the side vent was proving really difficult at first but going around it I noticed little tabs so peel back the outer layer and then gently push the tabs with a small screw driver whilst gently pulling and it will pop out, once you 2-3 done some wiggles and it all comes off.
Anyway its a free modification, there seems a little extra sound which was my goal, will report back if any issues come from it but the air intake has mesh and the air filter is still present as is the snorkel, my guess is the baffle plate/cover is there to prevent people from throwing stuff into the intake track or maybe as a noise reduction device.
Put a BMC air filter on it too and it should sound even better. I have put a mesh over the intake vent to prevent anything from entering.

Too late. See post above. Also prefer the way the Spyder looks too
Me too, and mine came from RPM as well, gets used most days, although I agree the roof doesn’t come off as regularly as it would if it had been electric.Surely not too demanding even if a daily?

Thinking I might buy a 981 Spyder
Use profile will be mostly as a daily....
In that case, think hard about because you'll rarely get the roof down. You'd probably get many more "open top" expeditions in a regular Boxster with very similar character.Use profile will be mostly as a daily....
A very nice Spyder listed for sale here, has some nice modifications too:

That's intersting.https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/12235875
At least he has the original PSE with it. I wonder if the owners tried that PSE back box with the Soul Performance headers or just went all in. I personally don't like the videos I've heard of the full Soul perf. system but their headers aren't bad.
That seller would be better off taking the Soul stuff off, recouping a few grand selling it, putting original PSE on and dropping the price (IMO of course).
A good spec manual low miles Spyder in the mid £40k's would be appealing.

Agree a well constructed add ..unlike some I have seen when people trying selling prestige cars .Don't quite agree with the comment 60sec to take down the 987 Spyder hood had mine 8 years now and take my time removing and putting on again to avoid chipping paintwork on the hoops. The 981 I had was marginally quicker.

60 secs with two people yes, solo no..
Easily done by one person in that time and that is either taking it off or putting it back on. And that’s going from all doors/boot shut and back again ready to drive off. Well rehearsed system and everything in a certain order.
I have a few years of Elise training under my belt also!
I got fed up with the roof comments when it came out. If anything I think it is a superb bit of design. The part electric / can’t open the boot on the next models was a backwards step in my view.
Same as noise comments about the roof when it is up. The whole point of the car is roof down driving and it is far noisier at speed with the roof down. So I don’t understand the noise with roof up being the issue for some people. All part of the character of the car.
Driving to Le Mans one year the ‘no rain-roof down’ rule was severely tested with occasional showers throughout the drive down (waiting until it started the creep over the side windows and into the cabin heaviness level). I think there were a minimum of 15 times I either took the roof on or off between start and finish of the drive. Only hassle was having somewhere to pull in to do it, not the roof part of it.
