£50K isn't the ceiling for the 987. I had three offers for mine earlier this year over £50K (56, 53 and 51). I turned them all down at the time.
Absolutely, prices in Europe and USA are starting to explode on the 987 Spyders, UK will follow but most likely have to wait for next Summer, these cars are incredibly special and rare, plus in my opinion offer a more fun and engaging drive at legal speeds on UK roads compared to the newer models. But the silly season is over and probably not going to return in spring.
A very nice very low miles 981 spyder all right spec. etc failed to make over £68k recently and it’s nothing to do with wrong time of year as the right car always sells what ever time of year.
CLR your car was a nice car with a rare spec. but with all due respect failed to achieve higher than £56k at the height of the silly season!

I was surprised that 981 Spyder on Collecting Cars didn't attract higher bids - it was my old car which I sold to the trade back in July (for a substantial chunk higher than the £68k highest Collecting Cars bid!). That car with all the spec and low mileage would be an £85k all day long at a PEC during the summer but not in November it seems....A very nice very low miles 981 spyder all right spec. etc failed to make over £68k recently and it’s nothing to do with wrong time of year as the right car always sells what ever time of year.

Yes I knew it was your old car and a very nice example too, but the fact that it is achieving less than you sold for 5 months ago is a good indicator of softening prices! IMO nothing to do with winter as cars were flying out the doors last winter.Seems that peeps are still trying to get Summer chip shortage inflated prices. Higher advertised prices has also increased supply…….I recently counted 17 for sale on AT of which 5 were white.
Trade bid on that car is prob high 60’s to retail at high 70’s…….guessing trade dealer paid mid 70’s as at one time had it up for mid 80’s. Reserve was prob at break even…..my guess is they will lose it at low 70’s come Spring 22.
Happy driving

Well the trader who bought it from me in July and was trying to sell for mid £80’s and then listed it on CC and it didn’t sell at £68k highest bid is now advertising it for £76,990 which is less than they paid me for it! Wow surprised trade paid > £76,990 for it…….they certainly rang the bell there.
Think there will be a lot of interest next March around 73/75.

Bit of both……prices got ahead of themselves and obviously time of year isn’t the best.

Listed the car on motorway.co.uk which is a closed auction to the trade. Had 7 different trade bidders over £77k which surprised me at the time so took advantage of the market conditions. Wow surprised trade paid > £76,990 for it…….they certainly rang the bell there.

Then went and paid strong money for an AMG GT-R……LOL

Stunning…….Hoping we won’t see this for sale in 5 years with 2,500 miles on the clock
LOL - Fear not, it already has more than that on the clock and in the first 2 months of ownership i've somehow managed to do more than I did in the Spyder over the last 12 months!981SPYGANG said:
