Can anybody confirm the grade of Mobil 1 the dealers are using in the 981 GTS?

More noticeable yesterday than any other time, the PDK in manual seems much slower to react when using from cold start. Is this normal? After temps got up to 70, everything was working just fine. Is this just a warm up stage for the gearbox too?
Also, inwhave only run the car upto 3000rpm when cold, is this about right or should it be lower?
I could leave it in auto, but I like to have control.

Not sure in PDK but have seen other boxes manual and auto need abit of a warm up prior to smooth operation, they were older generation though. My manual seems fine though cold.

I dont take mine past 3500 - 4000rpm when cold and light load on the throttle, wait for Oil temp to hit around 88 deg.

What is the hottest anybody has seen their oil temp on the road. From memory the highest I have seen it is around 108 or 110, and that is in Australian winter!

Mine was 103 yesterday, sat in traffic in middle of town.

My old RS4 would often go as much as 120-125 when on Alpine road trips.

Mine was on a country hoon when the outside temp would have been around 10 degrees c or less.

I fretted about this as well. Normal for my BGTS once warmed up and stable is 90 degrees with sport mode active and 110 degrees in "normal" mode. Ambient temperature seems to make bugger all difference. I don't think it makes any difference but, for info, mine is a manual.

My PDK CGTS is exactly the same. Slow changes in Sport when cold. I keep below 3500 until 88C, then we're off. 4500 miles with no oil use so far.

I have pagid rs29s. Much better. Bit squeaky, but waaaaay more feel.

Once my oil temp hits 60 degs I get the full speed changes. Below that it's slower. It's a step change too not gradual, so assume the car slows the shifts down to protect things until everything is up to temp.

So a couple of newbie questions please:

- I thought the Guarantee and Maintenance document contained a list of the factory fit options (as code numbers) - can't see them though. I (think!) I know them all but it would be nice to see them in an "official" document specific to my car

- currently on the 7 day DriveAway insurance, which came with a quote from Porsche Insurance (actually Marsh Insurance?) so need to arrange some - they gave us a quote which seems to be Aviva-backed for just over £600
...the most competitive "we've heard of them" company on t'Internet is Saga at half that price
...Marsh warned "make sure anything cheaper is "like for like (approved Porsche repairers, genuine parts etc)"
...is there a "goto" insurance company for Porsche/Cayman/GTS insurance? .. has to be rock solid OPC warranty friendly - genuine Porsche parts (including windscreen) and an OPC/third party repairer that doesn't void the OPC warranty)

Still not getting how I see the documentation on the factory fitted options - any ideas please?

Pretty much convinced to go with the Porsche/Marsh insurance as it seems the only one guaranteed to be watertight with regards to OPC warranty, unless anyone has any other suggestions?

You can request an official Porsche Certificate of Conformity which lists all the options factory fitted to your car. Download the application form from Porsche UK website, send them a cheque for (I think £60) with a copy of your V5 registration document. It's free if you are a member of the Porsche Club GB, you just send a copy of your membership card in lieu of a cheque.

Other place to look for options sticker is front or rear trunks on the underside, though I have a feeling they stopped doing that but might be there, sure it should be in the maintenance/warranty book.

The option stickers on the body stopped in 996 times.

From memory there isn't a sticker in the service book, so a dealer is your only option.

OT: after having driven my car for a while now, I feel that a manual car doesn't burble and pop as much in the exhaust as a PDK car, which is a good thing. Anybody else noticed this?

Welcome and lovely car I use Lockton as they do a PCGB policy with unlimited track days (just have to give them a ring a few days before each one so the underwriter can approve it). Service has always been very good and I've mostly been happy with the quoted renewal prices, got them to price match Mannings once or twice when they were a bit cheaper. Big bonus for me is the service feels personal. Having had a horrific experience with admiral about 5 years ago, it's a breath of fresh air to always be able to drop an email to the same person to add/remove a car from the stable and get an answer back in an hour or so.
