on a different note, i need a clarification please - i don't seem to be able to find the option to automatically lower the side mirrors when reverse is engaged.

i've checked the menus but there is no "reverse options" item - is this function an option?
That should only be on cars with the memory package.

i see. didn't seem like a feature that would be tied to any kind of memory and as the car has autofolding mirrors i thought it was a given that auto lowering would be supported.

not a big deal but seems like a useful feature.

Do you have the 18 way adaptive sports seats? If you don't then you don't have that facility available.

Carista do apps to allow you alter things like that on a variety of cars via an OBD2 (even when they aren't available as standard). At the moment they working on a Beta application for Porsches - and I know a dipping mirror when reversing is already including in the latest Beta (it works with standard 2-ways but doesn't dip much though). Might be worth contacting Carista to see if you can take part - I already am - and they need testers).

thanks ellroy - i did see your post and responded accordingly but then 7184c suggested trying something that i'd already tried so again responded accordingly.

interesting - will look into this. any risk that warranty will be invalidated with something like this?

I am sure the dipping wing mirror whilst in reverse used to be standard feature on caysters or I am thinking of another car I owned! But it should be a standard feature on any model/spec.

Might be a bit dodgy warranty-wise, but should be OK if it's reversible, which, in general they are. Not sure what will be on offer - Carista are, I understand, working on the Porsche stuff as we speak. But to give an example of the sort of things which might be available, on our other car, an Ibiza, we can have autofold mirrors (they fold manually as standard), I can add a lap timer screen, G sensor screen, disable the fog light illumation on turns and a few other bits and pieces. Actually making the changes is dead simple - plug the ODB2 dongle in (mine's a cheap eBay one), let the app scan the car to find what's available and then select the options you want. If you are part of the Beta program you can make changes for free - though you will have to pay if you want to make changes after the app is released formally.

I had it on the 987/1 Boxster S which had electrically adjustable comfort seats (as they were then called) which had the option to dip the mirror on reversing. The subsequent Porsche's we owned, 987/2 Cayman S , 997/1 Carrera S and our current BGTS all had non memory seats and none of the additional settings such as dipping mirrors.

Here we go, then...spent literally HOURS out in it yesterday. It's utterly addictive. smile

(Images give the car a slightly brown look, but it's not. Agate Grey is a 'gunmetal grey' colour. My iPhone just sucks at colour balance)

PhantomPH - looks like you are blessed with clean roads or you washed it after, looks great though nice and clean.

I've had Agate in the past and in certain light it does have hint of brown to it, I like it.

First shot was taken 50ft from the dealer...I drove it out of the lot, into the next car park and took the photo. smile Second shot was yesterday after I washed the car. It was grubby as hell already, but I'd been guilted (read 'nagged') into cleaning the wife's Audi so the Cayman received a rub down as well.

Whilst the car will be cared for 'no expense spared', warmed up before any kind of revs etc. - I intend using it. The previous owner had really looked after it, but doing 5,000mls in 2.5yrs is not my style at all. Here we go.... smile

Agate has brown in it which gets picked out in sunlight and it's one of my favourite colours. Can I ask - the wheels look unpainted (not black) past the spokes?
Yep, they are "painted (partial)" in black according to the spec. The outer rim is the usual 'alloy' colour.

I love those wheels and specified them on our BGTS. The all-black wheels have no contrast to delineate them from the tyres. Close up of them on our car :-

Regular reader and part time poster, thought I'd chime in and mention I'm now a GTS'r (if there is such a thing).
Been a BMW driver of all M cars for many years and decided to try something different before phoning through another order to the local BMW garage !!
I tried an F type and liked it but the poor residuals make any PCP a painful experience so my better half suggested a Porsche and there it was (I can't decided if 'it' is a he or she just yet)... Guards Red GTS from Wolverhampton OPC.
Drives wonderfully, feels fantastic and sounds glorious ... pick it up on Saturday so roll on the weekend smile
