Am in the process of getting my CGTS booked in for it's first service, what are peoples thoughts on getting the air-con recharged, £200 seems a little steep and to me and is it totally necessary...

thanks in advance!
Is it still cold?

Thank you. The total cost came to £579.98 which is think is pretty reasonable.
Also, I've been quoted £150 for brake fluid change on top of fixed service cost of £485 - so £635 in total, AndyCGTS, where did you get yours serviced and was brake fluid change £94.98?

thanks

I've just collected my CS from Hatfield who did the brake fluid for £95, and AC for £150. Also had major service, plugs and MOT, along with condensers replaced as leaking. These were done under warranty as no visible damage. :-). Saved a fair quid!

If it is still cold then it is totally unnecessary to drain and re gas the system. It's a con, my OPC (Swindon) tried pulling that stunt telling me that it was a "Porsche recommendation" and it's total hogwash. I ended up getting my BGTS serviced at Portsmouth, and I'm glad I did, an altogether better experience than Swindon and 60 miles closer!

My car was serviced by (OPC) Bournemouth.

Mines the same, as my recommended OPC is Colchester who I refuse to use any more due to past messups. I can only say good things about the service received from Bournemouth.

Solihull (Sytner) quoted me £95 yesterday for Brake Fluid Change.

Hmmm, bizarrely Porsche Guildford won't match the other places mentioned above and are sticking firm to their £150 charge for brake fluid change, seems strange to me that different service centers offer different prices

Sorry to interrupt you all with a pic ! biglaugh
I'm new at posting, but really ancient at studying this thread from inception.
It really helped me in my ordering process in 2015 and through the agony of waiting for arrival.
My GTS is almost 2 years old now and I am more and more in love with it each day. It is not a daily driver for me and I have had
3750 Kms of pure bliss so far.
Looking at all the Caymans posted here previously has always kept me mega excited, so I felt the need to reciprocate !
Keep enjoying them and if you're anything like me, mine is never for sale !

nice car and nice pic - good to hear that even after some years the emotion is still the same.

on a more mundane note, i have an annoying noise coming from the drivers door air vent when the fan is on more than about 50% power, like there's something in the way of the air flow.

had the car at an OPC and they said they forced some air in to remove any debris but the noise is still there. is this normal or has anyone had this and had it fixed?

Not normal Jason and definitely isn't the case on my car as that would REALLY bug me!!

So, it's all a bit sudden but I'm now down to my last few days with my BGTS. I've had half an eye out for a 997/991 GTS for a few months and a 997 in correct spec (manual, coupe, RWD) with cosmetic options and toys I could get on board with appeared the other day. After dithering for 48 hours, I went to see it and a deal was agreed shortly after.

I've had some truly epic memories in the BGTS over 9k miles in just under 2 years (factory collection, Alps road trip, Spain road trip, some charity track events, to name but a few) and I will miss her, but the lure of being able to squeeze a car seat and our daughter into the back of the 997 so the car gets more use, and a manual gearbox with ratios I properly get on with was just too much to resist.

All being well I'll drop off the BGTS and collect the 997 GTS early next week at Portsmouth OPC, so if you're in the market for a very loaded Boxster GTS in mint condition, keep an eye out there next week smile

ok thanks for confirming.

given that they didn't bother to check to see if the issue had been solved after they tried to fix it should i be looking for a different OPC to take the car to?

another thing i've noticed and not sure if it's working as expected - i have the Sport Design steering wheel but the mini displays that show which mode the car is in (Sports, Sports Plus etc) don't seem to show anything.

is there some other option that is required for these to work?

Don't think so, I'd say that's faulty.

I had the Sport Design wheel on my S and now have it on my GTS. On the S nothing ever illuminated but on the GTS I get the lettering as in the pic. The GTS has Sport Chrono which is probably why...

Is that a PDK thing? As I don't have it on my manual GTS
