Red stichs are included into gts pack, so not standard.

Why stop there....

Consider the extra weight of full leather (all that stitching!), metallic paint, PDK?, auto dim mirrors with 'brain' sensor, seat heating (esp with adaptive seats with all those elec motors....), dynamic headlamps, Bose etc etc....all performance blunting stuff......hehe
And fat Porsche driver

So, as I said, £2k extra for red stitching?

Sounds extortionate to pay more than £2k from some contrasting stitching when things that most would consider important options cost virtually the same such as PDK, PCM & PSE etc etc......

leather wrap Cockpit, specific seatbelts, red/silver rev counter, carbon trims, red stitchs, alcantara trim door handles, pillars, stowage.
I think interiors look boring without this pack.

I do agree that the interior looks boring without this pack, and when you look at the completely standard interior of a standard Cayman, it certainly makes them look low rent.

It's just unbelievable that they throw in Alcantara interior with the GTS, which you'd think would be the expensive part, and then charge over £2k for contrasting stiches, different coloured seat belts etc.

My current spec, with the GTS interior pack, is circa £67.5k which seems a lot to my eyes and an easy to get it closer to £65k is to get rid of GTS interior pack as it's not adding anything to the drivability or functionality of the car....

I don't understand people complaining about the price of all the options on a GTS (or any Porsche), because that is just the way they have marketed their products for decades. Also consider yourself lucky here in the UK: in Australia where I used to live the prices are almost double what we pay here, thanks to 80% government taxes. Fancy paying £100,000 for a loaded GTS? That's what they do over there.

I ticked every single option box except Burmester and the GTS came to £73,000 including some protection and insurance products sold by the OPC. To me that comes to the same pricing as a specced up Jaguart F-Type or Lotus Evora SR, the other two cars I was considering. Ok, that gets me to a base 911 Carrera but the 981 is the best car Porsche makes anyway.

I would never get a GTS without adding both the interior GTS pack and the exterior gloss black pack, that's how they were marketed in the press shots and I would not feel like I had the GTS experience that Porche intended for me if I skimped on those options that make it unique.

If the pricing seems too high for those extras to you, perhaps you are not in the market for a GTS and just get an S or go second hand maybe?

Hi folks, first ever post on PHs. Have read a fair bit before but never posted as I was only listening and didn't have much to say. Yesterday me and my lovely woman went to test drive a Cayman GTS. A terrific experience. Deposit duly put down, now a long and agonising wait over the winter months for a Feb.15 delivery. In terms of spec, the GTS has so many of the driving add-ons as standard, but we did add the PTV and took the Rhodium Silver colour with the Satin Platinum wheels.

She was pretty worried that the car would be just too much performance for her to handle but she got to grips with it easily enough. The car seems to have a strange ability to be a nice, comfortable, rounded drive about. Relaxing and compliant, a no hassle drive. (I can see that it will be able to coax and encourage the development of new driving abilities, without scaring the life out of a person in the process). But press the Sports Plus button and it turns into a fiery little monster. I drove through some small country roads, very quiet and with decent visibility so i could examine a bit more of what the car could do. I was grinning like an idiot.

Anyway, after a couple of months of weighing up all the options, chewing through whether or not we needed such a car, the deal is done. We live just 2.5hrs from the Nurburgring so can now start to dream about improving our driving skills to take advantage of that possibility. So, hello from Belgium, I hope to be around a bit.

Great first post and just about sums it up for me to. Now a few months into ownership I couldn't be happier. The car is so versatile and easy to drive as a daily but then there is always the S+ button if you want to have some fun. I can assue you you won't be disappointed.

Sarnie, you're right, I agree with your analysis.
Total on cost for this pack, considering differences vs standard interiors could be £500, remaining £1500 is profit.

When I configured my car the first time I refused to choose it, waste of money I though, but after seen it I realised this is one of the most specific opt that let a 981 be a GTS. And that std interiors looks boring.
Rev counter in red is worth all the pack for me.

You know, when you buy this kind of car, it is all about emotions, and car manufactures know that.

Silly comment just because I think £2k on contrasting stitching is extortionate.......it's almost as expensive some pretty huge options like the PCM, PDK and PSE.

I want it and will probably spec it, I am just surprised at what you get for the money thats all.

I decided to do away with the Alcantara interior and not take up the GTS interior option. The steering wheel felt like it had too much 'carpet' on it and whilst i appreciate that if you have sweaty hands it is going to be more absorbent than leather, it just didn't feel so nice in my hands and I can't think of a situation once in life where a steering wheel has slipped out of my grip.

Red stitching, red rev counter, carbon-look cabin trim all nice enough but certainly not worth what was being asked in my opinion. I am quite happy with the standard aluminium look inserts with a black leather interior and have preferred to shift my costs into more engineering focused areas. Or a couple of sets of tyres maybe.

I totally accept it is an entirely individual and subjective decision about what to put inside the car. This feels like an utterly brilliant decision biggrin

GTS pack makes the car imo, looks great with alcantara leather, carbon and full red stitching.

Gents I would appreciate an advice, what is better: build date 3rd week Nov with delivery early Dec (registration 2014) or build mid Dec and delivery late Dec (registration in 2015)?
Second one?

So no point in aving a registration in 2015? I know the plate will be 64, but I wonder if there could be any advantage in case I need to sell it (not planned for 5 yrs at least biggrin )
