I tried in August but was too late for the November build cut off so would have had to wait until May next year for delivery !

Decided not to bother
I want a March delivery but one dealer has told me May and another August!!

Makes me glad that I placed a speculative deposit in September 2013. Mind you, I only just took delivery of it 10 days ago.

I expect the order books to be heavily backlogged until they stop making them. For those of you that have the patience to wait for it to be delivered, I suggest you be patient and wait, otherwise if you change your mind you may find that you won't be able to get one at all.

Those dates are only because I'm ordering Exclusive paint.......

Good news!

My car arrived at OPC today, will be picking up on Wednesday. After selling my 997T on Friday I've been carless a few days but am really looking forward to picking her up

Good news indeed. Can I ask how long it was between delivery and the build completion date? My OPC is not being very forthcoming about the likely delivery date (perhaps because they do not know). My build completion date is next week.

Ross mine was a cash sale.

Try a number of OPC dealers my local one was completely uninterested when I asked for a discount even though I had the specification with me that was over £70K all they offered was free GAP insurance and must take Porsche finance.

Next not so local dealer greeted me with open arms; asked for my specification and called back the next day with a £3k discount they got the order.

The sales guy now works at my local OPC so hopefully they may learn from him on how to keep punters happy.

Just read the bits about clearance, I took my GTS across to Guernsey, no problem getting on or off the ferry but some of the roads over there I did bottom out a few times but only minor scratches underneath.

Me from Guernsey.... Am intrigued to know where you scraped bottom? As you know, my yellow Boxster with SS is imminent....thanks

It's been 3 weeks from the day it rolled off the production line to being unloaded off the transporter at the dealership.

So if you plan worst case 4 weeks from your build date to picking her up you won't go far wrong

Cibbie it was down a small country road down by the garden centre where they sell the Fresia's, road was basically a single track. It will be very hard to use full power on Guernsey.

Many thanks. I'll just have to be patient.

Thanks for the clarification. I was concerned ordering SS and whether I would scrape the speed bumps. I DO intend many trips away. In the meantime I can cruise with the top down in the sun.cool

Saw my first one on the road today. Still not entirely convinced by the shape of the Cayman; the rear C Pillar area doesn't look quite right to me. Perhaps i'm used to 911s, but i prefer the Boxster.

Big thumbs up for the PCCBs, not sure about the Ronald McDonald colour combo though...

I live in Shropshire but pass through Warwickshire regularly. Solihull dealer offered best advice so got the deal - order placed in early June (they are a good dealership if anyone is trying to make up their mind who to place the order with). I will post some photos when I collect it

Could not agree more about the shape of the Cayman, there's something not quite resolved with its rear roofline. I love the broad hips but to me the Boxster looks more appealing and masculine with its roof up. I also never figured out why the Cayman is more expensive that it's roadster brother when every other marque charges a premium for going roofless.
