apologies if it's a dumb question, but what exactly does the GTS have already specced which the S doesn't?
For about £6000 more than the Cayman S - the GTS has

1. 15hp increase, to 340
2. Sports Chrono package (Sport + button)
3. Sports exhaust (a button to made more noise, don't think it improves the performance just the exhaust note)
4. Tyre pressure monitoring system (not sure if this is included as standard on the 'S')
5. Active suspension, PASM
6. PDSL lights
7. Slightly different front splitter and trim and GTS stickers on the doors

GT Porsche magazine wrote .. if you add £8000 of extras to the Cayman S you will have a car almost exactly the spec of the GTS, but still not have the extra power

By that definition, the GTS is a good deal - if those are the extras you would have added anyway

There are also some exclusive options for the GTS - including the GTS pack!

i specd up a caymanS with pdk ,pse,sc,ceramics, buckets, sports suspension, ptv, psm etc and the gts likewise.so apart from the extra body bits they were alike but the GTS was £2k dearer for an ecu remap and some stickers!clever marketing again from porsche!

Changed my spec today. Locked in now, nearly missed the spec change window. The car is pretty much identical to the one Evo tested!

Is this a private party or can others come along? My Cayman might make for an interesting comparison. Pasm vs sports suspension, PDK vs manual, 987 pccb vs 981 etc. Bedford in the morning and a few few local road after?

GTS also has full leather interior.

TPMS now standard on all 981s.

Let's do it, would be fun.

As for the price, I'm not kidding myself. An S is better value, a used one more so and an R yet more.....but sometimes you've got to buy what you want.

For me it's easily justifiable. We are moving into the era of the electric car. There aren't going to be many more chances to buy a new unafflicted drivers car such as the GTS. So I'm jumping at the chance. Manual, PCCB, naturally aspirated etc....

Does anyone know if the PSM and traction control can be completely ( and I mean completely ) switched off on the new GTS ?

edited as neumonics is not my strongest suit

I don't know about the PSM but PASM is permanently on.

All you need to worry about is turning off the TC and on the standard S you can switch it off completely, they are unlikely to change that on the more 'focused' GTS. It will be the same without a doubt.

Can't see why you'd need to switch off PASM? As far as I know they just set the stiffness of the damper and its fixed unless you adjust it manually.

You cannot turn off tc. Wait for a very wet day and put the hammer down from a standstill with tc "turned off". Blink blink blink still happens (thank fk!).

I've driven mine in very very wet conditions. That's just not correct. It does completely turn off. My car would spin on a sixpence if you didn't know what you're doing in the wet. Proper drivers car.

Forgive me - I am talking from 987 experience, but I doubt it has changed. Stability control systems when "off" are usually simply dialled down in terms of how quickly they intrude.

According to the manual, we are both right! Some of the PSM functions remain on; others are actually turned off. See, for example, the following:

PSM warning light

...
– The light indicates a control operation, even when PSM is switched off, e.g. brake control in the event of one-sided wheel spin.

All I can tell you is by all intents and purposes it's from behind the wheel when it's off. Unlike a XFR I used to own which would cut power to the rear when you were drifting. So annoying.

Yes I didn't mean anything to do with suspension. One thing that annoyed me about my CR was the inability to switch TC off fully. Light still blinked and brakes still applied. Just wondered if the new one was different and could be totally disabled ala GT3 ???
