I've just got back from the Porsche Experience Day at Silverstone. WOW what a day, if you get a chance id highly recommend it.
I had 3 cars lined up for me at the special request of my dealer who I've placed the order with. I had a Cayman GTS with Sports Chassis, steel brakes and PDK, a Cayman S with PDK, PASM and carbon ceramic brakes and a manual Cayman S with PASM, carbon ceramic brakes and buckets.
I had these cars back to back in and around the experience center and also out on public roads to get the most from the day.
Suspension:
So first off, I took out the sports chassis car and didn't know what to expect as these are fix rate springs and dampers as well as other chassis tweak. I was pleasantly surprised how comprised the car was. Its firm but its not crashy as I was expecting really. Even on the country lanes, its a firm ride but it hands the road really well and a huge plus is the epic feed back from the steering wheel.
Next I took out a PASM car, even before I go to the track I could feel the difference. The car seemed to roll and wallow and bit more and also didn't turn in as nice as the sports chassis setup. However, the biggest thing for me really was the feel of the steering as it just felt numb in comparison to the other setup.
So my finial choice there was the Sport Chassis.
Brakes:
This was another area where I was pleasantly surprised, as I have read loads of comments about the carbon setups so was unsure what expect. In short thought I found them to give a much greater braking feel and they seems to brake the same as the steels but with less effort. Then going back to a car with the steel breaks, the peddle felt numb again and also required more effort to achieve the same braking results.
So I've settled on the Sports Chassis, Buckets and carbon ceramics on my finial build, which is good time as its all confirmed and sent to Germany this weekend. My built slot at the factory has also now been confirmed as late Jan 2015.
I can't wait now.

Wow mate this sounds like best spec ever. Have you tried the red one (x73 and PDK)?
Have you opted for Manual or PDK?
PDK. I've tried to like the manual but Ive found the gear throw too long. Have you opted for Manual or PDK?
Once extra thing, in the reception area there is a 991 in Mexico Blue and its like WOW. So I have emailed to the dealer to see if I can put a special request in for that color.
The set up was for general track use and also to adjust my steering wheel to centre, it came from new slightly left hand to high..
Here's a Nurburgring lap post the set up chasing a sorted c4s, it started well but tyre pressures started to get a bit high towards the end of the lap..

The GTS with sports chassis was at its best in the wet last weekend, the balance and confidence this car provides are just awesome.. I can honestly say it's just as much fun as my old 997 GT2 and even close to my 996 RS..

It is interesting that the EVO* magazine in its latest edition gives the CGTS a 5 star rating but advises against SS for UK roads, given that all of us PHers who have gone for SS are more than happy with our choice. - Henry Catchpole (of EVO, who drove the BGTS in Majorca)recommended it to me!

Close to mine in terms of spec, though I went manual and no PTV.
I did order the carbon door sills - honest opinion, save your money.
It's an awesome car though, I'm doing Silverstone tomorrow which I'm really looking forward to.

Let us know how you get on with PTS please... I heard Germany may be limiting PTS to two windows per year only so it would be good to know what impact this has if correct...Once extra thing, in the reception area there is a 991 in Mexico Blue and its like WOW. Yup.
Grr.. i think this is my only regret/mistake - I did originally have it on and then took if off as i then decided to go with a stripper manual spec. After I tried a manual and didn't really get much out of it - I went back to my optimal spec and even added GT silver but convinced myself that DAB would be a waste as I mainly listen to iPOD anyway.
Just that you do get more choice with the DAB - I can still get it via AUX/BT and my phone, but would have been better to have it included in hindsight - all the additional antennae integrated into the car.
Never mind - I'll get over it!! - Going in to sort out the funding today and pickup next week. 17 weeks after first putting down my order deposit!!.

I have asked my dealer and I am currently waiting on a reply. I was told to expect the car in May 2015 due to the additional 12 weeks that are added to all PTS delivery orders apparently. May 2015 is too close to the GT4 arriving for me to be spending £70k+ on a GTS, so I've cancelled my order......
I also cancelled my PTS Order for similar reasons .
I ordered in September and was told the earliest I would get my car was May 2015 , maybe even June .
As mine was a Boxster I didn't want to miss the spring / early summer .
I changed to a standard colour and ...... The car turned up in October and I picked it up last week . Suddenly all the deliberation about colour doesn't seem to matter , it looks fine in metallic white with platinum wheels , x73 suspension and the various black bits .

Agreed, carbon sills are a big disappointment. Reflects the issue that is created by not being able to see all of these options in real life!I did order the carbon door sills - honest opinion, save your money.
