Certainly looks wrong now, but I'm not a fan of the look of those Alu pedals.

I would get them to fit standard pedals and get a refund, I would imagine a wet leather sole could easily slip off that brake pedal unless you intend to wear chalked Sparcos?

Nice interior though.

Don't get me wrong, I love that pedals, I've asked them but are not available in uk configurator.

Iam used to wear rubber sole shoes, also when in suit, so no issues with grip. I've got also sparcos (for weekend days). biggrin

Little bit disappointed for footrest, waiting for response from headquarter. Likely to be fitted after delivery, if available (not sure now what is / isn't available).

Quick question: do all Caymans have the thin black vertical line on windowscreen, I guess needed to de-frost mode?

Noticed that this morning, first time seen it. Though was in a LeMans car, with that vertical split on windowscreen :/

What? :/

Here a picture. It is so thin, hope will not notice it as soon as I am used to the car.

When you are driving you shouldn't see it at all as your focus is so far down the road.

Stunning looking car.

I was looking at my footrest yesterday and was thinking the same thing. Where is the aluiminium footrest I paid for? Be interested to hear how your OPC responds. Surely we are not the only two?

I am still shocked from the look of this car, my mind is away lost in some yesterday's memories of my first approach to the car.

BTW I thought I was the only with Alu pedals, have you got it too? With no alu footrest?

My salesman will come back to me next week.

I might be wrong, but after an investigation on an Italian brochure, it could be a matter of lack of space where to fit it on RHD car, so they've kept the standard one.

See here below picture (LHD), the footrest is clearly bigger than the RHD one.

I double checked the spec for my car and I am definitely missing one aluminium footrest or £160(ish)!!

I'd appreciate knowing your feedback when you get it.

Kind regards

£179 to be precise.

Have you got alu pedals at least, as mine? The more I see them the more I love.

Yep, stay tuned for info. Wonder why you didn't notice this when you collected your car. how many weeks ago?

Hi Ross, my car was VAT free so the alu foot rest was bit cheaper wink

I had a LOT of options on my BGTS and a couple of issues so I hadn't focussed on this. Your post highlighted it for me, so thanks. I collected the car just over a month ago but the weather has been pants so she has not been out that much.

When I am back I shall hassle my OPC too and see if I can get an answer too! shoot

Just back from afternoon at Silverstone at Porsche Experience. Generally a great experience and learned some useful info on PDK that I didn't know even though I have been driving one for 2 years!
Maybe I am the only one who didn't know this but thought I would pass on just in case?
Beyond the travel of the accelerator pedal there is a button which can be triggered with an 'extra' press. This has two useful functions.
If you are approaching a corner for example in any gear, instantly come of the pedal and jab down to trigger the button...this will cause the PDK to downchange into the lowest possible gear for the revs...eg it may go from 6th straight to second. Saves having to manually step through the gears.
Also if you are in manual and hit the rev limiter activating the button will change up...useful for example in an overtake when you run out of revs and 'forget' you are in manual.
Hope some of you find this useful..I did.

I ordered the aluminium footrest and it is fitted, not all aluminium as the other pedals but just the outside edges with a plastic middle section so cannot see why it has not been fitted to other cars.

I found out about the 'flick/slap' (i.e. don't keep your foot there, just a quick jab) down to change down on a test drive (with one of the Silverstone instructors). You don't even need to trigger the button at the end of travel, if you slap it down it will still change a gear or two for you, if you touch the button then it will be more aggressive on how many gears it will change down.

Odd thing is, I had a BMW 1 series at the time with their 7 speed auto... and it did the exact same thing when i tried it, which totally surprised me smile, wonder if it's a common feature of modern/sporty auto boxes?

I drive in manual mode pretty much 99% of the time so never use the feature, but didn't know about the changing up thing in that mode, so thanks (+ I probably don't drive around with my foot permanently pressed on the button either, mostly because one of the few annoyances is that even in manual mode pressing the button when accelerating and just wanting to hold that gear will still change a few gears for you).

Thanks Shifty. Still not home but that sounds like exactly what I have...(from memory)... Interesting though that this sounds like we both have different foot rests to the one depicted earlier in this thread which appeared to be all aluminium?!?

It's a kickdown function. Don't need to jab it or back off as it's based on the pressure and degree of accelerator angle. Also, PDK automatically upshifts at the limiter, even in manual. It's in addition to the kick-down switch at the end of travel.

As I understand it, the "kick-down" switch at the end of the throttle travel, is also an "upshift inhibitor override", so in manual, if you don't press through the switch position, the engine will just sit on the limiter.

Edit to add: I understood correctly, page 146 in Cayman S manual.
