Gents, how do you wash your car?

I was looking for some self service car wash where I can put coins and have high/low pressure water jet...nothing found yet in Warwickshire.
Found bucket and hand washed the car tongue out

We don't have a contactless car wash in Guernsey so I hand wash the car. It now has 4 coats of polish. Lovely!! biggrin
Cannot believe you all wash your car by hand without high pressure water jet. I takes so long and you can ruin paint surface.

£500+ so I can make or receive one call or so a month? Would rather save the cash and just get my gf to hold my iPhone vaguely in my direction with it on speaker phone like she does now!
You clearly don't have a woman in your life. Missed calls while driving when she is calling you = Red Card biggrin

Gents, do you find difficult to close your tailgate? Mine closes only if I push it hard, letting it drop quite hardly. Different story for the bonnet, which you can close just pressing it when it's in contact with the latch.
Tailgate doesn't close if I push it when it's in contact with it's latch, actually it stays kind of blocked, you cannot open it but it's not completely closed, you see it is still uplifted, so I need to press the key button, open it then let it drop off hardly.

:/

Ridiculous price I know (Telephone prep is slightly cheaper but still a rip off) - but unless it can be retrofitted easily it might make resale more difficult. Cars without one or other are pretty rare.

Sounds like an adjustment problem - mine closes easily when dropped. If it doesn't close you do have to "open" it again with the remote before you can have another go.

So you're confirming I cannot close it just pressing it like I can do with the bonnet?

From which distance do you let it drop?

I start pushing fast from about 10 inches away, and it gets the job done. Otherwise if I drop it, it won't lock, and if I push it from when it latches (like the front) I have to give the car a shove strong enough to compress the suspension just to close the tailgate.

Actually that is a bit closer to what I do if I think about it - but I don't need to push all the way - just give it enough momentum. I don't need to get anywhere near compressing the suspension at the rear (but do at the front). Just a matter of different catch adjustment I guess. Mine doesn't rattle so I don't think it needs to adjusted.

I'd consider dual zone climate control - not because it's dual zone but because it's climate. The standard system is pretty basic and, as other posts have said, you'll spend time fiddling with it to maintain a constant temperature.
Interesting, is it simply air-con rather the CC if you don't tick that box? If that's the case, that outrageous on a £60k+ car!

You'll doubtless get stick from a couple of religious maniacs about your choice of PDK - I would declare yourself a devout atheist (there's a fair number of us about).
Haha! Yeah, I would possibly, but as sweet as the manual may be, the ratios are daft. What is it, 85mph redline in 2nd? 3rd has got to be about 120mph which is just too much for this type of car. Whereas on my test drive, at 7400rpm where the red started on the tacho in second on the pdk it was a slightly more sensible 74mph and 3rd would see you to a shade over a ton, so probably still licence keeping as speedos over-read slightly.

I forgive my GT3 for doing 84mph in 2nd and 113mph in 3rd as it's not optimised for the road and frankly it has an extra 75bhp so can still feel very rapid despite the longer gearing. But in a GTS, that type of gearing is flawed IMO

Lol! I've said in posts elsewhere that I probably have the perfect gf (and I'm not just typing this as she's looking over my shoulder!!) and petrol-head could want. No earache if I go out and buy a daft new car for the stable, she thinks that the GT3 is a comfy car, loves road trips, never makes any noise about wanting to drive the cars, doesn't bend my ear on the phone at all and even knows to answer queries of "that's one of those classic older Porsche's isn't it?" from strangers with "yes, an early 993, last of the air-cooled, lovely cars"....I'm in looooove cloud9 .... biggrin

Hand washing is a skilled job, as you rightly intimate, so as to avoid rubbing dirt into the paintwork. I would stress though that my car is a dry car (most usually) so washing is usually the removal of a bit of brake dust and -well- other dust. Also allow for the 4 coats of protective wax I have applied and you probably realise my paint work should be lovely for years to come biggrin

Pretty much par for the course with Porsche... That's my understanding from other posts (my secondhand car came with dual zone) - and the Porsche website is suspiciously vague on the subject.

Something else you might not expect (but might know from your GT3) PCM does not support speed cameras or allow loading of personal POIs. I get round the speed camera thing by having Camera alert on my android phone and using bluetooth audio to get into the PCM. Not ideal since you can't use the radio (other than TA) or Juke box.

Correct re aircon. I have to say I 'easily' ticked £18k of extras for my BGTS without even getting carbon ceramic brakes, or special paint... Many of the 'options' are standard on other cars. Porsche would probably argue that you have choice...! confused

Pressure washers are not clever for washing cars: they drive the grit into/along the paint. Not a great idea.

It is indeed outrageous. When I came up with my tick list I couldn't really see the point of dual zone aircon in a cabin the size of the Caymans. Even when going over the spec with the sales guy he agreed he couldn't see the point but failed to let me know ( or didn't know ) that with out it the car doesn't have CC. The bit I missed and still think is a bit misleading in the options list is what you get as standard.

This was a 'feature' on the 987 as well, due to air pressure in the cabin I believe.
