The waiting times are daft, I was told 2016 for a GTS but I could have an S in a couple of months.
Problem is when I add all the options I want the S is only 3k less and doesn't have :
- Sports Exhaust
- Sport Chrono
- Styling tweaks
- Extra power
Not sure why anybody would by an S unless they want a fairly basic spec, also I'm guessing they are built on the same line so why limit the GTS production.
Dealers also seem to be selling lightly used GTS for more than the new price.
If I was to order now 2016 is getting rather close to the facelift, I'd rather wait and order the 'Gen 2' version.

I have assumed the long wait for the GTS is due to the 'Gen 2' version becoming available at the end of the year and needing to make enough to meet demand (however this got this wrong for the GT4). I have decided to wait for the 'Gen 2' version hoping that the 'Gen 2' will provide more power/torque than the current version. What are the chances of using the same engine as per the GT4? Rumoured that the 'Gen 2' version will before out before the 2016, so this time next year expecting to have mine (Wanted a GT4 but the dealer told me back in Nov all sold out before it was officially announced, madness!!!!)
Come on Porsche make some more GT4's!!!!

I have the red GTS interior which is great and to prove I’m a complete tart I’ve bought carbon fibre effect (painted) key side blades from the bay in Hong Kong (£25 ish)

Also would you mind sending me a link to those key blades. It's Friday and I think I should treat my car to something nice!
Cheers,

They look the same as mine and are from the UK and less cost so better all round. See Suncoast Porsche for fitting instructions:

How long did you wait from placing your initial deposit? I placed mine four weeks ago & OPC Silverstone said a Nov lock down with a Feb 2016 delivery. They said it might be earlier than that. I have my PEC day next week & want to try out the X73 along with PASM - so they have arranged both CGTS's to be available.
Hi Andrew,I placed my intitial deposit in June last year and to be fair, I always wanted to take delivery in March this year. It's possible I could have had the car sooner, even with PTS. I upped the deposit to 10% around Sept/Oct last year.
Lead times on the cars do seem to be getting longer and longer. I think a number of folks may have switched their orders for S or GTS to the GT4 but have come unstuck due to limited numbers of RHD GT4's and are ordering S & GTS again. My dealer offered me the chance to switch last year long before allocations or lack of was known about and I am so pleased I stayed in the line for the GTS.

What is going on with these build dates? Have they taken half the line down to upgrade for the gen 2? They were knocking them around in 3 months back in 2013. 8-9 months is ridiculous!
Ordered mine in August 2014 and it arrived in October 2014 TonySim said:
Picked up my car yesterday and WOW, WOW & WOW! I had my last 987 Gen1 Cayman S seven years and I can see me keeping this one even longer! Going from 295 to 340 BHP is very noticeable as you would expect and I can only imagine what another 45 + BHP for the GT4 boys and girls will be like.
When I had my depositors day at Silverstone last September they didn’t have an x73 GTS to try so I went with x73 on the strength of the rave reviews on the forums and I am so pleased I did. I can only echo what’s been said already. It’s the dogs danglies. After I picked it up I went to try all of the speed ramps and humps on various routes I use and none were an issue. Result!
I had planned to go for a drive and then go home to fit the Zunsport grills and wax the wheels (sad I know) but it didn’t happen. The car and weather was so good I just had to keep driving and visiting family and friends who work from home. Six cups of tea later I got home and then read the handbook.
In all the excitement of picking up the car yesterday, any camera skills I might have had went out of the window and the photos I took were crap. I did get one from inside the dealers looking out to the car on the iphone.
I have the red GTS interior which is great and to prove I’m a complete tart I’ve bought carbon fibre effect (painted) key side blades from the bay in Hong Kong (£25 ish) and the Alcantara key sleeve with red stitching from Porsche (£ don’t ask, it’s embarrassing).
If anybody is considering going PTS, Lee my salesman said that for cars with PTS availability (not announced for the GT4 yet as far as I am aware) the PTS order book will open again for a limited time in June.
Great car!! Great colour!! I should park my racing yellow BGTS next to it one day (with sun glasses firmly on first!)When I had my depositors day at Silverstone last September they didn’t have an x73 GTS to try so I went with x73 on the strength of the rave reviews on the forums and I am so pleased I did. Like the carbon key bits. Where and how much please?
Full of cold so apologies if a daft question, but PTS?
Lastly Zunsport grilles, I am sure many of us would like an idea of price, fitting challenges etc?
When you've responded you can take your car out again

All those who have X73 - how compliant is the ride? Would your other half feel, assuming she likes a bit of luxury, comfortable on a trip down to France for example?
I live in New England, which has B-roads nearly as narrow, and due to all the snow, much worse quality. With that said... most comfortable car I've ever owned by a country mile. It can jostle you a bit on really bad roads with layered washboard-style repairs, but other cars I've had were MUCH worse.Gassing Station | Boxster/Cayman | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
