I know the spec I want. That would be the main reason I would be doing it.
The main benefit is the driver education that the experts offer you, skid pan, kick plate, low friction surfaces etc to enable a driver to safely get the best out of their cars. Helping to decide specification is only a small fraction of the benefit of going.DMC2 said:

Hi I'm looking to buy a BGTS or a CGTS if anyone is selling?
My very high spec CGTS is for sale at Porsche Glasgow. Rhodium Silver with black/silver turbo wheels. Amazing looking car. Done about 1500 miles.D.

This^^I bought an extra half day so did the morning in a BGTS and the afternoon in my car. After a serious morning, a good proportion of the afternoon was (by choice!) cocking about in my GT3 on the low friction track going as sideways as possible and learning how to do 360s on the ice hill The instructor was champing at the bit to have a go in it as well so I obliged

Just came across this - not sure what your planning people (or your bank manager) might think about it - but..... http://www.gazebox.net/ As the Carlsberg advert might say, Carlsberg don't do ... but if they did they'd be the coolest in the world. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhNDTeUm3sU&fe...
Thanks :-) I'd imagine these would come under the heading of non-permanent structures so planning would likely struggle to object. The house purchase has not gone ahead so it looks as if I might be lucky and we can find another one, but this time with a garage!!!I hate house moves. The Guernsey housing market is not good. Small stock and not great quality... and very very expensive!!

Seen this listed at Glasgow DMC2. What was your reason for getting rid after 1500miles??
I swapped it for a 991 GTS which made more sense as an everyday car (kids in the back) as I have a GT4 coming (sometime between July and November!!!) which will be the weekend toy.Ok lads, bit of advice needed here.....
Have CGTS on order but found out I won't get it till very late in year, this and the fact the st scottish weather will mean it's stored away in the garage when I do get it (car only weekend toy) I really don't think I can be bothered waiting.
The spec I was going for was agate, PDK, sports suspension, external gts pack, red interior gts pack and black carrera wheels....
I now have the option of a brand new BGTS which I could get in a week or so.
Obviously not a Cayman but still a stunning and probably just as good a car.
Guards red, red interior gts pack (not alcantara wheel as wanted) PASM, gts exterior pack with the turbo wheels in partial black (these can be changed to carrera if I push) PDK. Also has some nice things that I would not have specked like sat nav, Bose, DAB radio etc.
The sun we are having might be swaying me just now but looking for some thoughts on you who have one of either.....
I know it's all personal but let's see where we go!
Cheers

Personally, I wouldn't. I have done this in the past and regretted it. Especially in Scotland as you only get three days a year to put the roof down. When you don't it will be squeak squeak wibble wobble.Have CGTS on order but found out I won't get it till very late in year, this and the fact the st scottish weather will mean it's stored away in the garage when I do get it (car only weekend toy) I really don't think I can be bothered waiting.

Then again, I wouldn't buy a Cayman GTS at this point in time as the existence of the GT4 would p*ss me off and it's likely the replacement next year will be a step up in performance.

Never yet had a Boxster (on my third) that suffered from "squeak squeak wibble wobble". My current GTS is by far the best, not even the slightest hint of any flex. Roof free of windnoise - again the best yet. But you do get the advantage of full surround sound exhaust note with roof down. Edited by 981C on Tuesday 21st April 22:08
Each to their own but having had a Cayman (2010 Cayman S PDK) I wouldn't go back to one. Any improvement in handling due to the stiffer fixed roof is very very minimal and possibly only noticeable by a bloody good driver on a test track.

My reference is the 987, so maybe unfair of me, but the Cayman, to me, is a step up in chassis dynamics and the differences are noticeable at all speeds. Each to their own but having had a Cayman (2010 Cayman S PDK) I wouldn't go back to one. On 987 I would agree regards body stiffness and effect on handling. I definitely disagree on differences between 981 Boxster and Cayman which are MUCH closer. I drove both extensively at Silverstone and borrowed a Cayman S PDK for several days to help make my mind up and would totally disagree that you can tell the difference "at all speeds". Only if the Cayman had sport suspension, PTV and the equivalent Boxster did not would you notice any difference at all on public roads, even tight challenging ones.Edited by dreamcar on Wednesday 22 April 09:58

That's good to hear. I need to get a drive in one!Gassing Station | Boxster/Cayman | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
