That's good to hear. I need to get a drive in one!
They are both absolutely fantastic cars, make no mistake, it really comes down to whether you prefer closed coupe or open top. For the most focused drive you need to spec your car accordingly (for both).
Although I chose to stay with PASM (SWMBO doesn't like ride to be too firm) I added PTV and PCCB to mine to get the handling as good as possible. Much debate about both options to be honest, the Silverstone consultants describe PTV as "icing on the cake" more for the limited slip diff then rear wheel braking - and PCCB, well there have been many heated debates here and elsewhere on perceived benefits of those so I'll leave that alone....

On 987 I would agree regards body stiffness and effect on handling. I definitely disagree on differences between 981 Boxster and Cayman which are MUCH closer. I drove both extensively at Silverstone and borrowed a Cayman S PDK for several days to help make my mind up and would totally disagree that you can tell the difference "at all speeds". Only if the Cayman had sport suspension, PTV and the equivalent Boxster did not would you notice any difference at all on public roads, even tight challenging ones.

Ok lads, bit of advice needed here.....

Have CGTS on order but found out I won't get it till very late in year, this and the fact the st scottish weather will mean it's stored away in the garage when I do get it (car only weekend toy) I really don't think I can be bothered waiting.

The spec I was going for was agate, PDK, sports suspension, external gts pack, red interior gts pack and black carrera wheels....

I now have the option of a brand new BGTS which I could get in a week or so.

Obviously not a Cayman but still a stunning and probably just as good a car.

Guards red, red interior gts pack (not alcantara wheel as wanted) PASM, gts exterior pack with the turbo wheels in partial black (these can be changed to carrera if I push) PDK. Also has some nice things that I would not have specked like sat nav, Bose, DAB radio etc.

The sun we are having might be swaying me just now but looking for some thoughts on you who have one of either.....

I know it's all personal but let's see where we go!

Cheers
Absolutely don't wait that long for the CGTS, looks like there are options to get in a car much sooner (i.e. immediately). I'd be chomping at the bit if it were me and there was a BGTS available right away (red with black wheels is a brilliant combo too). There are seven CGTS' on autotrader when I just looked, and three BGTS' - hopefully something there you like wink - haven't even looked on the Porsche Approved search. Boxster has always been a stunning car, and I'd have one again, only reason I went for Cayman is that I've had two Boxsters already and really wanted a change.

Good luck!

Yeah been looking like mad on there mate. Nothing that really does it for me (what is it with all the silver caymans....)

The more I think about it the more i am swayed to the boxter, plus took the wife to have a look last night and she loves it in red.

Carbon80 that's a long story...lol
At the end of August 2014 I ordered a base Cayman but with a lot of options, one being PTS in Riviera Blue.
However during Christmas/New Year holidays I visited Sheffield OPC where I had ordered it from and they couldn't give me any confirmation that it would be built during 2015??? So I cancelled it, and had a re-think as it was the PTS in Riviera Blue that was causing the delays...
So I thought what the heck I would go all out and get a GTS.............. next problem was finding an OPC with a build slot before late 2015. Eventually after e-mailing and calling every OPC in the country Portsmouth by chance could get me an April build date, and I ordered it there and then over the phone in early January 2015.
So I feel as I have paid my dues in the waiting game, admittedly though I do feel fortunate that Portsmouth had this one available build slot as everyone else was quoting late 2015.
However, it couldn't have been much further from my home in North Nottinghamshire, but they are putting me up in a nice hotel Friday night so I am happy.
Cheers

Enjoy your collection! OPC Portsmouth is only a couple of miles from where I work in Portsmouth Naval Base...purchased my Boxster GTS from Swindon - long story but I had a major failure to agree with their sister garage in Bournemouth a few years back so next nearest dealer for me was either Swindon or Mid Sussex (Burgess Hill).

For you boys about to buy or recently purchased, did you take the 3rd year Warranty? I've only just learned this is an option - it didn't appear on my invoice, yet I have it, so I've essentially been mis-sold an insurance product. I don't even know how much it costs.

This is also misleading:

"Every new Porsche comes with a three year New Car Guarantee - with unlimited mileage, valid all around the world and provides comprehensive bumper to bumper coverage against all manufacturing defects and three years Porsche Assistance cover"

I don't believe it is an option any longer, it's now included in the price which has been increased by the cost of the third year.

That would make sense, although it's not what I've been told. I also received a warranty card for 2 years and then a subsequent for year 3.

It's not on my order, I binned it. Although I will double check they didn't sneak it back on when I added bucket seats a few weeks ago....

Was it mentioned and you declined? What was the value?

It was automatically added by the system, but could be removed. It cost about £600+ from memory

Yeah it was on my order but I removed it too. I wasn't asked if I wanted it removed, the system automatically added it, I asked about it as it had a value (circa £600) and they said it could be removed if required, so I did.

I thought you could purchase the third year warranty later, i.e. at the end of year 2. Is that not the case?

Thats what I was told which is why I removed it. They said it could be added, without an inspection, before the warranty expired for the same cost as it is when you order the car new. Didn't see much point in giving Porsche £600 two years in advance.........
