I thought you could purchase the third year warranty later, i.e. at the end of year 2. Is that not the case?
Thats what I was told which is why I removed it. They said it could be added, without an inspection, before the warranty expired for the same cost as it is when you order the car new. Didn't see much point in giving Porsche £600 two years in advance.........
Exactly. They just want it in their account for two years, rather than yours.

Ok lads, bit of advice needed here.....

Have CGTS on order but found out I won't get it till very late in year, this and the fact the st scottish weather will mean it's stored away in the garage when I do get it (car only weekend toy) I really don't think I can be bothered waiting.

The spec I was going for was agate, PDK, sports suspension, external gts pack, red interior gts pack and black carrera wheels....

I now have the option of a brand new BGTS which I could get in a week or so.

Obviously not a Cayman but still a stunning and probably just as good a car.

Guards red, red interior gts pack (not alcantara wheel as wanted) PASM, gts exterior pack with the turbo wheels in partial black (these can be changed to carrera if I push) PDK. Also has some nice things that I would not have specked like sat nav, Bose, DAB radio etc.

The sun we are having might be swaying me just now but looking for some thoughts on you who have one of either.....

I know it's all personal but let's see where we go!

Cheers
I have owned a Cayman R and now have a Boxster GTS. The R was great, the GTS I would suggest is better. I have driven a 991 GTS coupe and prefer my 981 BGTS. The option of top down is excellent when you have PSE too! Lovely noises. To me there is no downside to owning a BGTS to a CGTS as far as quality, speed, performance and finish is concerned. Some will argue that the BGTS is 95% of the CGTS given slight bhp increase in the CGTS and rigidity but as most of us probably drive to 75% of the cars capabilities...

Ok, here are the facts:

Prior to 1st March 2015, all Porsches came with a two year manufacturers' warranty. The third year was optional. On the GTS, it cost £829. You can see that a new GTS is £829 more expensive than last years as the third year warranty is now shipped with the car.

The dealers system is configured to add it in automatically, yet it doesn't appear on any invoice or correspondence!

As I was given no opportunity to opt out or any information on who provides this insurance product, or a Needs & Demands statement, then I've essentially been miss-sold an insurance product and its optionality and charging was hidden.

I'm sure the FCA would have something to say about this.

I think you are right to be upset - and indeed to take it further. I was told by the dealer last year that the third year WASN'T optional (though it clearly was then). As it happens I bought secondhand so it didn't affect me - but I would have felt the same as you if I'd bought a new car and subsequently found I had been misled.

Congratulations and enjoy. I had a 3 day extended test drive of a CGTS and was very impressed! I have since managed to get an allocation of a GT4 so didn't proceed to purchase the GTS. If the GT4 is as good to drive as the GTS I will be very happy!

It was Reading that gave me the £829 figure. What was the base price on your invoice?

Ok lads, you have done the job!!

Went ahead with the BGTS!!!!!!

Guards Red
PDK
Black satin carrera wheels (decided on this last min,was going for gloss but think the black satin will look superb)
PASM (this is the only downside, wanted SS but not end of world)
PCM
GTS interior CArmine Red
Mobile Prep
BOSE
Reverse CAmera inc Park Assist
DAB Radio
GTS Black Exterior Pack

Think that's about it. Really good spec I think.

Can get the car from Wednesday smile

By base price, do you mean base price of the car before options?

If so that was £54,568.00 (£45,473.33 +VAT) that's before options and roadfund etc..

Also has anyone changed / booked appointment at the OPC to have the oil changed after the breaking period? As I have just ordered my oil ready.

Excellent spec, congratulations. Don't worry about PASM it is even better than the set up in the previous generation cars, you'll love it, especially on UK's broken roads, comfort and bump absorption is exceptional. GtS exterior pack is also a great finishing touch, looks so much better than the matt black standard finish and the gloss black roll bars look great. Personally with the gloss black exterior pack I would have preferred gloss black wheels as they match exactly.

Brilliant!!!

Yes, I have SS on mine but as others have posted, aside from the slightly higher ride, the PASM should give you the ability to find your optimal firmness setting. The GTS black exterior pack is -for me- probably one of the best options that I chose (and I chose a lot!). The shiney black contrasting against the bodywork is stunning and is probably the most admired feature of my car. Paint your wheels black too! biggrin

Intriguing... Everyone at Porsche Reading and locally has told me there is absolutely no need to do an oil change until first service. Have to confess that this goes against my better instincts but I deduced if neither was going to take this opportunity of taking lots of cash off of me for something I want then maybe they are right...
