Its interesting that they say the new engine will run along side the naturally aspirated 6.

if thats the case then I might switch to the new car when it comes out.

This is what I've ordered, porsche code - pg6qnmr6

I know it's not everyones idea of ultimate spec, ut I'm basing it on the Cayman GTS i owned for 6 months.

I'm also on the list if there is a pdk spyder so i'll be switching to that if they ever release it.

(I can't drive a manual)

Please excuse these ramblings as I doubt anyone on this forum is in need of hearing about cars they have already bought (and already sold in a number of cases) and long ago been through the process that I am just starting. But just in case there is a late adopter like me...

Yesterday I went to the PCE at Silverstone before locking the build of a CGTS, it was also my first ever drive of a Porsche let alone a Cayman and first time with PDK. (Past car history is of Mk1 Golf GTI's, Sciroccos, mini's assorted rubbish then SLK's, TT's and ending up in a mad 470 Hp TTRS).

Part of me thought I'm not going to like this at all and will wait for the new TTRS. But I couldn't have been more wrong, for the first time ever I'm in agreement with the testers platitudes. The car feels more alive, nimble and confidence inspiring than anything I've driven, I know, what did I expect given previous cars.

The only problem is I was set on a manual, and this was fantastic to drive giving you a small sense of reward when you manage a heel and toe nicely. (The auto blip function blew me away as well, beforehand I couldn't see why you'd need it but after not quite getting a few down changes right I wanted it back on again). The clutch is just too stiff for me though, I can manage it fine but a day's driving? I'd be in agony and not looking forward to getting in it again, I am a wimp admittedly, but also broke my ankle fairly badly a few years ago.

Initial thoughts on the PDK were that this is just too slow and numb, there seems to be a gap between requests and engaging the driveline. So the guy from PCE puts it in manual and sports plus. And I am again blown away. Fast driving is amazing, obviously, letting you redline and hold that gear, but the biggest difference and deal breaker for me is it doesn't change down if you just come off the throttle again, keeping the engine braking as a manual. We tried pootling along in second, as if you were approaching a roundabout and trying to time filtering in without dropping to first (as the VAG DSG does) and the PDK just stays in second and lets you pull away again smoothly.

So I'm locking in with yellow rather than cost increase colour to help with the PDK cost, sports suspension as this felt just very slightly better at PCE (probably just because I've read it is so much) bucket seats, GTS interior, PCCB and Nav/bose.

Big thumbs up to the PCE as well, much more pleasant than I expected, everyone there was relaxed, friendly and keen to make sure you were satisfied, without all that Mr. / sir rubbish some companies think passes for customer service.

I'm converted.

Hi and welcome. Everyone's tastes and needs are different and being able to spec exactly what you want, is for me, the bonus of buying a new car.

Have they given you any idea of the delivery date?

Sounds like a cracking spec I would also add PTV as you have gone for the sports suspension option (X73) Yellow is also known to be the faster colour as well Enjoy !

Ahah nice post rob, welcome on board.

Tough to think a TTRS can beat a CGTS in terms of driving experience.

Love your spec, I've got ss, buckets, pdk, it's perfect.

Just a lack of torque at low revs but because I was used to a turbo engine, not really an issue, pdk is so fast to engage the right gear.

Nice write up there Rob, unsurprisingly I don't think you are alone in your road to wisdom....(Damascus wink ) I too didn't think the sum of the parts of a Porsche were up to the hype and having a go in one blew me away too.

Having now taken delivery it is a pleasure to own. Dartford Tunnel earlier today sport + mode it sounded awesome!!!

Thanks for the comments, I've been through the first 20 pages and last 50 of this thread, so probably have missed some comments on peoples reviews of the specs they chose.

I am being told August delivery Budweiser, before the factory shuts at the end of August.

Interesting on the PTV Tyrrell, is that what you have? Anyone else really recommend this? One of the guys at the PCE suggested this also.

RBTO, how tall are you? I am slightly worried about the buckets, they only had a Boxster with them at Silverstone and I just got to sit in it for a minute to try. I'm only 5ft 6, but always have the seat set at the bottom of any adjustment and had Recaro Pole Positions in the TT on fixed mounts, so should be ok.... Any chance of a couple of pics including the seats please? PM me if you'd prefer?

Agree on the noise, not usually a fan of sports exhausts, but the noise from a CGTS on full chat? unreal.

Yes, I have the PTV on mine and it's highly recommend and also after much discussing with my PEC instructor he recommend it as well. It's on the fast twist / technical corners which you can feel the advantage of PTV.

I also have the buckets in mine and I've got no problems, I am 5" 9. I think what makes you think you are sitting lower than you are is the bonnet is very low, so you don't see it.

My personal recommendation is X73, PCCB's, Buckets and PTV oh and ACC if your using it on trips. I have a load of other options but they are the ones I'd recommend. Another highly recommend two are the LED package and the DAB option.

Here's what I'm locking into today:
PGEZESH9

Time to not worry about it anymore. (Until I have to pay for it anyway)

Edit: Andy, thanks, I posted without seeing your reply and coincidentally I have picked the LED and DAB and decided to go with the PCV. Need to look what ACC is though, I'm at my limit so might have to pass. Would you mind confirming that the buckets have alcantera centres, please?

Nice build, It's simlar to mine nearly. I'd change the Mobile phone preparation for the Telephone module and I'd also recommend the 2 zone climate control.

Yes, mine does. It completely depends on your interior options though, as standard it does I believe.

This was my build just for refference: PFQN1QM3

That is a nice build, metallic Carrara white metallic? That would have been interesting to me also. To change to Telephone Module wouldn't be much, but I'd heard they are more prone to problems linking with an iphone than the basic phone prep?

Silly question probably, does the 2 zone climate offer any extra features above setting the temperature for each side? As I've found that these systems on other cars I've had never get utilised, when the lady is in the car with me we leave it on the same setting.

Thanks again.

Yes, Its a lovely colour in the flesh but pictures never seems to do it justist. Its got a lovely blue hue to it in bright sunlight and it also really pop's! Let me see what pictures I can find.

I've had no problems with mine and I use a iPhone 6, to coin the phrase it just works. Yes, its basically climate Vs standnard AC, IMO its worth the extra.

Hmmm that white looks the mutts nuts, and interesting about the ACC, I will have to change that I think as std AC doesn't really cut it. Good choice with the wheel colour too. I'm hoping PCCB means less crap to clean off every week. Edit. That's not why I'm choosing PCCB though!

I'm not going to copy your colour though.

Probably not anyway. smile

Lovely smile if I didn't already have a white car I'd have probably gone for a similar exterior/interior colour combo on my BGTS order

Hi Rob, I am 1.77 m tall and 65 kg to give you an idea.

They fits me perfectly, driving position is very low but now I am used on it. I feel like one thing with the car, amazing.

Will post picture later (interiors, I haven't got one with me on it)

Here below picts of my CGTS. Be sure you go through all pages to see all of them.

Brilliant, thanks RBTO, the buckets do look good.

Poor GT4 boys can't have buckets right now. (I'm still miffed though that there are apparently unsold GT4s in continental Europe and no more for the UK. Madness).
