Thanks Andy. Was looking at your spec Andy and is sweet. Only problem is if I add PDK and PCCBs to mine (along with the rest of my spec) I'm hitting the £75k mark. Don't want to over-spec but also don't want to regret not putting the right car together. This configurator is taking over my life! Wife and kids haven't seen me in weeks!!
Thank you, it's my first Porsche, so I wanted it to be "right".

IMO there is no such thing as over-specing the car, as it's all person preference at the end of the day. However, with that said mine came in at 76/77k but it's spot on for my requirements.

I was under the impression that you wasn't able to order GTS's now? Due to the pending facelift that's due.

Yes, you can still order them, but some opc's have filled their allocation. I traded in my Cayman last month and orders a BGTS, it will be built around christmas time, and I'm not picking up until march next year.

And even though I've already owned a GTS i'm still having difficulty speccing my new one!!

Why the move from CGTS to BGTS out of interest?

Well originally I bought the cayman instead of the boxster because there was slightly more headroom, and it was slightly more practical.

In reality it was still too much effort to carry bikes and stuff like that on a cayman, and I've got a bit smaller, so now there is sufficient headroom in a boxster.

So i guess I always wanted a boxster over a cayman, but now it's a reality.

The reason why I wanted a boxster over a cayman, was whilst the cayman might have 2% better driving dynamics, I don't track it, and I'm not really a good enough drive to notice the difference even if I did. But on the road they don't really feel any different.

What I can feel though is the wind, sun, and you can hear the noise. Oh the noise. That adds 50% to the driving experience. Also with the roof up I would say the boxster was the better cruiser because there is less engine noise. Good for motorways.

All of this is my opinion.

In reality, if you want the sharpest driving tool then buy the cayman, buckets, ss and pccb.

Other then that, decide if you want the ability to lower the roof. If you do get the boxster, if you don't get the cayman. (I think the cayman looks a little more special)

You won't be dissapointed with either they are both brilliant cars.

I've chosen the Boxster and the first time i drive through the hindhead tunnel with the roof down I know I'll of made the right decision for me.

Sounds good, you don't need to persuade me beer I pick up my BGTS from the factory on 13 July smile Totally with you on the driving experience roof down, def worth the minimal driving sacrifice it entails. I will be tracking mine (would be virtually criminal not to), if only just to give the GT3 a bit of an easier life and spread the duties, but didn't feel the need for SS or PCCBs but did spec PDK and buckets (which as far as I'm concerned are just very comfy seats that happen to be very light). If I want hardcore I'll just take the GT3. Although I am looking forward to taking them both to the track on the same day for a compare and contrast driving

Thanks, have been told Week commencing 27th July delivery, slightly worried about the insects attracted to the yellow though, how's your experience?

The OPC told me orders for CGTS were closed, but when I spoke to Reading they said that was true but that they expected more slots to be released, which looks to have happened

Thats definitely true - my OPC (Sheffield) got an addition 2 in the last allocation pool - both July builds. They were both sold within 24 hours - so there is still plenty of demand for them even at this stage in the lifecycle. I bought 1 of them and when I asked about discounts i was told none were being offered (by them at least). I really wanted the car, so wasn't really in a position to negotiate given they had a changeable build slot which was available for 1st September pick up. I am sure if I had rang around a bit a discount might have been possible from somewhere - but if they can sell 2 cars in 24 hours of getting them I suppose supply and demand dictate no discounts at present. I would imagine there will be very few coming through now though - maybe a few in Q4 - but then i imagine they will switch to 981.2 production, so no more GTS's for a few years.

I ended up dealing with Tom Hallchurch at Reading OPC, a gentleman. Racing Yellow with the external GTS pack and shiny black wheels looks the bees knees. While we are on the topic of insects i think I probably do see more insects landing on my BGTS to check out that it isn't an enormous daisy but other than that minor observation no apparent downside. I did spec yellow air vents (in the cockpit) to go with the yellow seat belts and thought that I might have overdone things but the vents do what I hoped and bring the bonnet into the cabin. The seat belts together with yellow trimmed mats brighten the carbon trimmed black leather cockpit.

shame they are closing the book on them. 2014 had 211 uk registered CGTS and 114 BGTS, assume 50% again in 2015 - thought it would have been higher numbers

I am at PEC next month before I finalise my spec. Currently spec'd Bose but looking at Burmester. Read a few reviews and hoping to check comparison when I am at Silverstone. Curious to know if Burmester in a GTS is worth the extra £££.
I came from a E92 with BMW individual high end audio (825W) which is my reference for best standard car audio system. I'm sure there are others but I haven't heard them. The Burmester in the GTS, while more expensive, is not as good. Part of this may be down to the audio gear itself but I'm sure the shape and size of the Cayman cabin is not the most ideal. Also remember that the engine is right behind you and the noise floor is a lot higher than in the E92.

I also have a BMW i3 with Harman Kardon, which is an interesting comparison. The hardware is much less expensive and not as good, but the cabin is well damped and noise floor is pretty low so in the end it is a much better place to be in when listening to music.

Would I spend the money again on the Burmester? Probably. Not because it's worth it but because the Bose suck smile

I don't bother with anything but the standard stereo because they are all st in the Cayman IMO. If I was that keen to listen to quality music I'd wear a pair of cans??????

I was under the impression the GTS sports exhaust is the only stereo you need, it's glorious!

Wibble?

Multifunction steering wheel installed, has buttons frown needs paddles biggrin

Why Porsche don't off the MF wheel with paddles when they can be retrofitted is beyond me...

Can't agree with that, I'm afraid. I have the Bose in my Boxster (981) and am often disappointed by it. Worst offender is the bass that is horribly boomy, and trying to listen to detail in the music requires pumping the volume up too much. The €150 "upgrade" stereo in my FIAT 500 does a better job of delivering clear and balanced music (and no, I'm not joking).

are the backs of your seats at least 4 inches away from the rear speakers?

Has anyone installed or have it on the car from the factory the "Wheel spacers on front and rear axles, 5 mm", which should provide a wider track. As I have thinking about ordering the kit from Porsche?
