Thanks all Colour choice was a bit of a gamble as I only had the configurator to go on, but it's a winner and I'm so chuffed with it. Factory collection was def worth it.
Has been an awesome 2.5 days and 600 miles so far. We've just arrived in Davos from Salzburg having done 300+ miles inc the Stelvio and Fluela Passes today. I'm shattered and a bit sunburnt, but all good Car has been amazing: PDK with paddles and PSE with the roof down on alpine roads might be driving nirvana....and I haven't even gone above 6k rpm yet

I think it's worth it yes. £600 goes to Porsche for the collection bit which is pricey, but the rest is just flights/accomm/euro tunnel home etc which, if you make a holiday of say a few days/week out of the collection, is okay.
Funnily enough there was an American couple "collecting" their macan I.e. Driving it for a week, bringing it back then waiting 8 weeks for it to be shipped to Texas!
Only downside of a non-981/991 collection is that they are the only cars on the production line I.e. You won't see a macan being assembled, I think they're done elsewhere

Just heard mine has completed production and will be at the dealers between 27th and 31st July.
Not exciting for anyone else, but sure is for me!
Decided to use this company to prep and protect with G Techniq Crystal Serum... www.exclusivecarcare.co.uk
Yellow, buckets, X73, PCCB, PDK. (Would have like a manual but clutch too stiff).
Now, just have to scheme a way to pay for it.
Having read all through this thread I am convinced I've got the spec. to suit me. Thanks all.

Spec looks awesome - I doubt you'll be disappointed. I was at PEC Silverstone on Tuesday and drove a Cayman S manual with PCCB, PSE, buckets and sports suspension. Most surprising was the sports suspension which I was expecting to be much firmer and more fidgety round the handling circuit. I think they've got the damping spot on to the point where I'm wondering why I spec'd PASM! I also found the brake pedal feel (at the top of the pedal) really confidence inspiring with the PCCBs. I'm surprised you find the clutch heavy though - I also drove a Cayman 2.7 manual and both clutches were fine (much lighter than say on a Nissan 350Z).

Hi, new to this forum.
Just ordered a BGTS last weekend. I was really impressed with the test drive, what an incredible sound.
Have been informed that there is no allocation, so have to wait until September to see if any slots come in.
Just sold RS4 cab, was getting tired of the old tech and being such a wobbly barge. Tested F Type 5.0R, R8 V10 Manual, and BGTS. The F Type was too skittish for me, I'm not bothered about swinging the back end round every corner. The R8 is a real nice place to be, but for £65k it was a 2010 model. So here we arrive at the BGTS, it seems to fit the bill perfectly.

Agree all except I went for the Sports Suspension and have never regretted it, and also the best colour Just ordered a BGTS last weekend. I was really impressed with the test drive, what an incredible sound.

That's good to hear, they didn't have a Cayman with buckets or PCCB when I went there. I'm booked in again on the 28th for the half day so it will be nice to hopefully learn a bit more about the car just before collection. Agree with you on the suspension and having read all the comments in here I was glad I tried it, normally I'd have plumped for PASM. Have ordered PTV and GTS interior too. The reason I find the clutch heavy is having a dodgy ankle: I've seen the GT4 lucky bar stewards are talking about protection film and there was mention of a Cayman suffering badly with 'peppering' of the arches, particularly the rears. Does anyone remember or know of someone adding sticky back plastic to those areas? I can't work out where exactly on the car they mean.
Found the information I think: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=112...

Ouch totally understand your PDK decision then! I found the instructors are really good at letting you do what you want to do. The first time I went all I really wanted to do was pound the handling circuit all morning - which we pretty much did.
Out of interest did you try a car with and without PTV? I've spec'd it mainly for the LSD.

Yes, that's exactly how I found them as well. We only had 1.5 hours allocated, not the half day. I did try one with PTV and one without, but that was confused by one being manual and one PDK. I was convinced at the time I could detect a difference, but really? I bet if they hadn't told me which was which I'd have just been guessing. Two of the driving guys there said quite emphatically that if I was going for X73, buckets, PCCB then it would have been silly not to have PTV too. And like you I want the LSD, even if my driving never really makes much use of it. I found the instructors are really good at letting you do what you want to do. I'm collecting my S later today so I'll report back. The comparison will still be pretty fresh in my mind hopefully as I was only at the PEC on Tuesday. Although in everyday driving you don't notice the LSD effect, there are always particular situations when I think "could do with an LSD there!" This is definitely true in my 130i daily hack but not to extent that I want to shell out for the Quaife diff alternative (although I am tempted)!Budweiser said:
