So I've only just gone and ordered a CGTS. 64k spec. Carmine Red with GTS interior. Managed to get a surprising discount but not a build date! Let's see where this adventure takes me! This is my first sports car let alone a Porsche. I usually drive hatchbacks....
Well done, I was in the same boat as you until three months ago. Mine's is on the boat over today apparently. I was blown away on trying one.

Have you been sent to Silverstone PCE to finalise options? You also get a half day there once you place an order, takes a few weeks to come through though.

Not yet! But waiting for the invite and very much looking forward to it! I opted for manual and PASM. I was very impressed with PDK but it just didn't feel natural. Was even convinced to go for Carmine key paint. I swore I would choose Guards Red but crumbled! Time to save the pennies.....

Congrats, well done for getting one - I thought they had all gone! How significant was the discount - congrats on that! When is your due date? Mine being completed this week - mine is also a 64k spec but with PDK

2.5%. I was completely fine with that given I wasn't expecting much anyway.

On the production front my take is if the 911 is updated late this year then the Cayman will follow after the Boxster update early next year. So I guesstimate you could still potentially get a build all the way to March 16. Let's hope that's the case!

Don't forget to consider the dual climate as the standard is just air con with no 'set temperature' facility. I mean obviously you do set the temperature but it's not an automatic control to a digitally set temp. If you see what I mean. And Smokers Pack adds a cover to the hole in the centre console. You probably knew already but the climate nearly caught me out.

Agree on the manual, wish I could have bought that too, hey ho I will just have to engage sports plus and manual every time I get in the car.

Usual dealer BS about no more build slots left then.. typical. When the dealer I went to originally in May told me that there were no more UK slots for CGTS, I ridiculously said I was willing to take a chance please take my deposit. Couple of weeks later I called Reading and they advised that there would be more slots later in the year. About 4 weeks later it turned out. Who cares, I want the car to drive not fret about residuals.

I've just negotiated 3 years GAP, a cover and some undisclosed 'trinkets' by taking the Porsche finance option. Oracle quoted a slightly better deal which gave me some bargaining. As I'm collecting the car without the dealer touching it after delivery for a professional detail and XPEL protection I also hope to be given a load of Swissvax too.

That's the worst deal I have ever managed in 30 years of wasting money on cars. You're supposed to get wise with age, not retarded!

Tick tick and tick again. The dealer ticked the smokers pack without me thinking about it. Climate is also added. Slept on it and had dreams about Agate Grey and then white. Then Guards. This Porsche buying thing is obsessive....

Told wife this morning. She shrugged and thought nothing of it. Tick again!

I was at PEC to finalise my spec on my CGTS on Wednesday before lockdown and I am in the same boat on spec with colours. Everything else decided changed from Bose to Burmester as I do like my music, it's the colour that is driving me nuts and I need to decide early next week.

Current spec in Carmine Red PGF67DC1.

Metallic White - looks great but just think there are so many white cars out there.

Yellow - Love it but think too in your face, but it suits the GT4 perfectly. And seeing it in yellow in the flesh at PEC confirmed that.

Agate Grey - stealthy looking but some of the curves sometimes disappear.

Carmine Red - Not originally on my list of contenders, but car I was driving on Wednesday was Carmine Red and it did look great with GTS exterior pack.

This is going to be a long weekend deciding!

It's funny how one can think it is only you that has prevaricated for days over the colour of your new Porsche to the point you think you are losing it. I did exactly the same thing. Finally settled on racing yellow with external GTS pack and painted shiny black wheels and it looks awesome. I also specced yellow air vents and THAT I sweated for 4 months until the car arrived but turns out the vents bring the bonnet nicely into the car and are mentioned by many aficianados who admire the car. White was my 50/50 choice but having seen both together I am genuinely very happy with my choice. Each to their own. The missus thought I should have chosen a more subdued colour but my view is that it is a SPORTS car and should look like one!!

Really fancied yellow myself - my previous loti and Caterham have been yellow - finally came down on the side of your wife and finished up with black. I concluded that if you are having a (another) mid-life crisis, better not to make it so obvious.

Yellow on the BGTS is cracking especially with GTS exterior pack and black hood. Remember the pics showing the yellow vents and it so makes it even more of a special BGTS. Have decided to go with the carmine red on my CGTS. Just waiting for OPC to call me back to lock down my spec. So can't wait.

A great colour too! It was my number 1 choice for a wee while. I am not sure whether having open access to a Porsche configurator is good for a PH'ers sanity...

Mind you, better than being press ganged in a showroom and having to be all done within minutes!!! eek

Today could be classed as either a great day or a nightmare. I had provisional settle on my spec about 3 months back which was agate grey and Bose, after visit last week to PEC changed to carmine red and Burmester, rest of my spec was the same on the CGTS.

Spoke to OPC today and due to their allocation they went ahead and ordered CGTS in Grey. Now for the big decision, no more orders being taken until 981.2 is announced. So decision is:

Do I go grey with Bose and it's here in 2 weeks?

Or wait and go Carmine red with Burmester?

Concern is will 981.2 be turbo 4-cylinder? If so from video I saw/heard on YouTube it would be a no go for me.

Does anyone know if 981.2 is going to be turbo 4-cylinder? As OPC doesn't know for certain.

Not sure why they didn't check with you but to your questions:

I am very happy with the Bose for those moments when I am not listening to the engine.

Colour is more personal...

Would NOT want a four pot turbo. I think the current models will hold value very well as the v6 is such a good engine and will not be matched by a blown v4 for overall sound and drive appeal.

BMW M3 is now a blown v6 with piped exhaust sound and if did not look so good would sell even less well... Turns me off...

Hope that helps in some way....

Thanks I'm of the same opinion that 6cylinder will hold value and from various discussions may even increase. Grey was my original choice, and having Bose just means would listen to that exhaust even more :-)

Have to decide tomorrow, just wish there was more certainty on the 4turbo being in the 981.2

Bose just saved you a pile of money. This car just inst geared up to perfect audio and you wont get a penny back.

Colour, now that is a different matter. I would not buy a grey car ever so I am not the person to answer that. Will you always look at it and regret i not being Carmine?

That's the dilemma Edo.

Although agate grey was on my list. I just don't want to miss out before the dread 4 turbos start.

On the plus side, less showy and still looks sharp. Probably a wider audience come resale...

Apologies for being pedantic but it's a flat 6 and flat 4 not V6 and V4....my minor OCD wouldn't let me not mention it! Everyone carry on!

Shows it off well in grey. Does look good in this one too.
